I guess the good thing is that he's wanting to get his decision over with rather quickly.

Once Pat started looking at other 2020 PGs, I felt that the recruitment was getting away from us. A bit like how we pivoted before Anthony’s announcement.

Gonna lose them to the blue bloods 9/10 times. Recruit the kids in the 75-200 range.

Setting the bar low just in case to avoid disappointment?

I'd be surprised he picks UNC honestly. My optimistic take is that he knew he wanted to go to georgetown the entire time and that he just wanted to go on all his visits lol.

I don't see UNC landing R.J. due to the fact that they have "NO SCHOLARSHIPS LEFT"! IAW Verbal Commit they are out of scholarships after getting a commitment from Caleb Love. Secondly, why would anyone want to sit behind all the guards that UNC currently have on their roster like Seventh did, only to transfer out after three seasons. I feel for Seventh Woods. We'll have availability after this season, my true concern is PITT they have playing time.

Won’t chirp a player that wants to go a BB. Funny tho how the criteria, playing time, holds true for 3 of the 4 schools he was considering. Not too worried about it as I think the program is going to have a very strong season. Someone equally as good will shake out next spring that can fill the role RJ would have.

Still want Davis but absolutely no angst about his decision regardless. The playing time issue for quality players is big. Doubt Akinjo even considers the Hoyas last year if he did not see an immediate opportunity to start.
As for needing another PG for next year, well it is all I can do to worry about the pre-conference schedule for 2019, without adding the issue of who will start at PG in 2020's pre-conference schedule. Besides, the assumption that Akinjo will not be here for his junior year is so premature at this point. Let's see what he does this year. From what I saw, his talent is undeniable but he still has a considerable ways to go to develop into a professional quality player, in terms of ball distribution and decision-making. I think that Ewing has referenced this as a goal for his guards for this year. There will be decommits in the Spring and numerous graduate transfers available and if Akinjo should leave, there is this guy named McClung who can play a little on the ball too.

Sometimes there is nothing legal you can do in recruiting to get a commitment. It's rarely about how hard you recruit a player. UNC was the last to offer and publicly recruited him the least with visits to Stepinac and brought him on his OV last, after all their other PG targets had visited, plus offered the most difficult road to playing time.
Not pooping his decision. He had the right to play where ever he wants. Just making a general observation on the nature of recruiting.
Congrats to RJ Davis and his family...

Once he busted out the hats, the .1% chance we had was officially extinguished.
