I think if we get this game in the high 70s / low 80s we win. If it’s in the 60s or 70s, I don’t think we will fare well.
A fast pace and good shooting is our recipe for success tonight; Powell can get his so long as we are scoring at a high clip.

I agree with your assessment; there was always a sense of dread going into games like this during JT3’s last years. All I can say is that I had that same feeling going into The Dunk e.g. we should win this one, but we won’t.......but we did. Times change, slowly. Face it, when we opened against Butler we thought, "well we didn't light it up in the OOC so we will probably lose this one"--and we didn't. Then we felt there was no way we could beat St Johns in the Garden--and we did. Finally, like you, I figured Providence at the Dunk would be a loss--and it wasn't. Hey, we might lose tonight but I really don't havel that JT3 agita. I didn’t mean to put it all on JT3. IMHO, he was a very good college coach who got sick of coaching and probably should have stepped down gracefully. Turning around a losing culture has to be the hardest thing in team sports and even in the best of situations, takes time. The great thing about Patrick the coach is that at this point, with this group, in this league, he seems to think the team should win. He is as impatient ( well maybe no quite) as us fans. It takes time for us fans to acclimate to that kind of positivity. I had my doubts about Patrick as a coach when hired ( Shaka, Ed Cooley). No mas.

I didn’t mean to put it all on JT3. IMHO, he was a very good college coach who got sick of coaching and probably should have stepped down gracefully. How many college coaches step down gracefully? Not many. They can't rationalize that they can't right the ship just one more time. It's why Jim Boeheim clings to the Syracuse program and Mike Krzyzewski can't walk away. Bear Bryant famously said that if he didn't coach, he'd be dead in a week. Turns out, it was a month. Coaches generally leave for six reasons: 1. They do not perform. 2. They are old and are persuaded to retire. (Lefty Driesell) 3. They are old, do not retire, and are forced out. (Jim Calhoun) 4. They jump at a better deal. (Brad Stevens) 5. They jump at a better deal which turns out not to be so good. (Rollie Massimino) 6. They are overwhelmed by scandal. (Rick Pitino) John Thompson was smart enough to see a life beyond coaching. Along with Bill Raftery and Lou Carnesecca, he's enjoyed two decades as an elder statesman instead of a bitter Nolan Richardson, whose reputation was ground into the dust. The window for unemployed ex-coaches is a narrow one, which is why those that want to get re-employed apply early and often (Tom Crean, Tubby Smith, Kelvin Sampson, etc.) JT III's window as a hireable major college coach may be at an end. He may be content doing whatever he is doing, but being content is often maddening for anyone who wants to coach, because they thrive on challenge. There's not much challenge as an analyst for the Conference USA Game of the Week. Turning around a losing culture has to be the hardest thing in team sports and even in the best of situations, takes time. Yes, it does.

SH actually plays BE defense. Our O has too many bad possessions to reach 80 against SH. Luckily SH can't score either....battle until the end!!!

What clout does Nike have on Georgetown that forces Ewing to wear those awful jerseys?
Seriously...

I swear teams are shooting 90% on 3's off of offensive rebounds against us. Every damn time
