I wanted to add that this was Georgetown's best defensive performance in the Big East so far this season, allowing 0.93 points per possession. I would like to think that was defense, and some probably is, but St. John's got a ton of wide open threes that they missed. Regardless, it's a step in the right direction. If we kept every team to 0.93 points per possession we'd have 10+ wins, but that's not realistic.

There's lots of good here, but I'm going to start with the bad, just to get it out of the way.
The turnovers are driving me crazy. I agree with SF, we were very fortunate to win. In fact, I believe that if St. John's had scored on the possession with under two to play when they had four shots to tie the score or take the lead, we would have lost. Instead, we ended up with a 3 on 0 fast break, and a two possession lead. When St. John's failed to score on their next possession, that was pretty much the ball game.
I love Akinjo, and hope that his shooting slump is over (he didn't really take enough shots to enable us to tell). That said, though, his dribbling away from the press and toward the baseline was a blunder that players should stop making by their junior year in high school. Please, James, don't do that again.
Slightly off topic, but we really need to be recruiting another 4. I don't get the impression that Yertseven plays that position, and it doesn't seem as though Wahab does either, should we be fortunate enough to get him (and we'll know within 48 hours). I don't really know how good Walker would have been, but there is certainly a chance that he would have filled that role. Now we just have Trey Mourning backing up LeBlanc, and he doesn't give us a whole lot, not to mention, of course, that he's a 5th year senior. So who backs up LeBlanc next year? We have to have someone.
Now for the good. What a great debut under the bright lights of MSG for Mac. Are there still some of you out there who think that his 250 or so ranking was accurate, and that he's not a Big East player?
I love the pace at which this team plays. Well, except for the turnovers. Sorry to go there again.
I thought Govan played really well, and that his defense was decent.
I loved seeing LeBlanc make all his free throws, and even a 3 point shot. It's nice to see him expanding his range. I thought his form looked good, too. As to the dunk at the end -- eh, could have done without that.
I'm really happy with Kaleb's play of late. Very hard nosed.
We are 2-1 on the road and 1-3 at home in Big East play. That's just plain weird. I hope that we can start turning that home ledger around on Thursday. It also seems a little odd that we will then be finished with St. John's and Xavier before we have played Villanova, De Paul or Seton Hall.

Full game highlights (not just McClung) Watching these highlights, I was reminded of my impression during the game of Greg's man taking him to the rim (highlight around :53 seconds). Why the hell is Greg, once beaten off the dribble, not clobbering the SJU player before he goes up? It's like Greg's in foul trouble which he wasn't and the GU team fouls were at 1. Same goes for Blair and Mourning on the next highlight. Roles players foul when beaten and there are plenty of fouls to give. That play (2:05) where Mac shakes off three SJU players and goes up for the bank shot, WOW! The TV crew pointed out that Jagan has been working on his 3-pt shot a lot (2:14). Nice!
