Would be more of an "insult" visit wasting the time of the staff and the program. The "courteous" thing to do would be to call the HC, thank him for the interest, and let him know that they are out of the running. So I don't buy that angle at all.

It would count against Georgetown number of officials for the yr as well. Each school gets a set amount of official visitors every yr, can't be wasting them. They wouldn't waste it on anyone that wasn't taking the school seriously.

It doesn't matter intent. We get him on our awesome campus, our staff gets hours and hours with him, he can see if clicks with the team, he sees DC, which is like 5 billion times better than Champaign.

Super quick and athletic. Not sure if those drives to the basket will be as effective in Big East play. Also, very low release on shot negates his size a bit. At the end of the day, he’s top-100.

He's definitely a good athlete but needs work on his shot. That's always been his weakness although it's certainly improved. Release is a bit slow too.
And as SFHoya pointed out, it doesn't matter what his intent is, as long as he is on campus, we have a shot. I am sure Brad Underwood isn't exactly thrilled that he's visiting DC.

Mac Irvin Fire = Shady. Dave Leitao, who's about to be fired, all of a sudden getting top 50 recruits and hiring La Lumiere assistant coaches = Shady. This kid originally committed to DePaul, bailed on the commitment within a few days and out of nowhere is considering the Hoyas.
I don't see this one happening and if it does, might not be the most up-and-up.

A recruit visiting the hilltop is better than a recruit not visiting the hilltop. Let's see how it goes...

Maybe the kid is recoiling from the sleeze that you suggest surrounding the DePaul recruitment and commitment and wants a solid program with some integrity??

If it's correct that neither parent is coming, I don't see how that can possibly be good.

If there is/was any sleaze in the kid's recruitment process (AAU or colleges or both), I hope that the visit is taking place because the kid is legitimately interested in the Hilltop and not simply to add a school with a better reputation for recruiting ethics to make the process look cleaner. As discussed ad nauseam over the years, Georgetown is a convenient mark for that treatment. Before anyone says, "why would the staff waste a visit on a guy who is possibly playing us?" I believe that they think that if they get anyone on campus, they have a good chance to make a forever positive impression. I don't disagree. The suggested absence of both of his parents, when presumably they've visited elsewhere, is disappointing.

DePaul: “They are still in my recruitment. They are recruiting me pretty hard and they are still at the top. I just did that because I committed too early and I didn’t have the same story as everyone. I kind of wanted to be like everybody else with how they were all committing but I just had to stay in my lane and continue with the process and see all that I can get.” Texas Tech: “The visit went good. I feel like that is a place that I can be. The coaches made me feel comfortable but didn’t promise me anything. They just told me that I could be one or two-and-done and could get me to where I want to be. “They brought up Zhaire Smith and saw some videos of him. They told me that I kind of play a little bit like him.” Illinois: “I felt at home during the visit. It is home. Same thing as Texas Tech but the fan base and the support that I got, was crazy. They were chanting my name in the stands and the support, even though the football team was losing by a lot, the stands were still full. The fan base is just great. “It would be a good feeling to go back home but it isn’t a big thing for me. Home is home but I need to be where I can get to where I want to get, whether it is Illinois or not. If I do decide there, I am going to make the best out of it.” Georgetown: “They told me what they had to offer but I want to see it all firsthand and the plan that they have for me during my visit. They said that I can come into a scoring role, fast-paced, it is the Big East and that I could change their program.” Florida State: “They are at the top of my recruitment. (Coach Dennis) Gates, he is one of the closest coaches that I am in contact with. He is not going to lie to me. Even when I committed to DePaul, he was one of the only coaches that actually called and congratulated me. We are going to be close no matter if I do go there or not.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/terrance-shannon-stock-on-rise-in-advance-of-possible-fall-signing

If there was no chance he would not be coming for the visit. Hopefully the staff and the school make a great impression on him this weekend and we are in the mix. To me Akok is the real target and hopefully the Hoyas could closer a deal with him, but Shannon is a talented wing player and the program always needs guys who can score.

The staff is prepping like Pickett is leaving after this year and 2. Depaul has no chance. Those were saving face quotes.

FSU just landed Patrick Williams so that may mean they are out on Shannon.
