And that's why we told the FBI not to investigate the inconsistencies in Bart's... oops, I meant Brett's testimony...

Sounds like it's official - the FBI "investigation" is the new low.

Trump will no doubt have high praise for the marvelous job the FBI did in this case only.

One pundit on CNN opined that the White House and the Senate are effectively the client of the FBI, and that the FBI can only act on its instructions. "When you are ordering meat loaf, don't expect a t-bone steak."

Retired Justice John Paul Stevens says that Kavanaugh should not be confirmed based upon his intemperate display of partisanhip. The first time in history that a retired justice has publicly stated his or her opposition. Stevens was appointed by President Ford and is a lifelong Republican (at a time when Republicans actually believed in something other than maintaining their corrupt grasp on power with the assistance of a hostile foreign power - scum).
Also unseemly and pathetic that Kavanaugh took to the Murdoch-owned WSJ to lobby for himself. And no doubt is lying in that op-ed. His true partisan colors were revealed in his testimony.

I think it's fairly clear that they were going to get their guy all along, regardless of what came out or did not come out. The attacks on Dr. Ford served no purpose but Trump took it upon himself to do it anyway. Further confirmation (no pun intended) that he's a piece of garbage.

Interesting that Neil Gorsuch didn't get the same treatment. In fact, he even peeled off a few Dem votes. Not sure why the assumption that "virtually all Democratic senators would oppose Kavanaugh, regardless of what came out or did not come out" considering the Gorsuch confirmation. If what the Dems were just messing with Kavanaugh for sport and all of this truly - as you put it - "served no purpose", then why wouldn't they have done the same to Gorsuch? But, recency bias, I guess. But I do understand Republicans feeling butthurt and victimized here, since they didn't treat Merrick Garland this way. And if you think this whole process served no purpose, have a conversation sometime with a woman who has been the victim of sexual assault.

Been watching Sen. Collins's lengthy speech, justifying her decision to vote for Kavanaugh's nomination.
Not even angry any longer. Just re-enervated.
Don't shake your fist in opposition to what is happening. Go out and vote. Go and help to get out the vote. The only way any of this will ever change is by changing who is sitting as our representatives in Congress.

I guess perjury before Congress is fine. Trump and the enfeebled sycophantic GOP have managed to corrupt all branches of government. Great job you morally bankrupt spineless bootlicking toadies. Be very proud of yourselves. You GOPers here freely admit there is no moral component to the Presidency. You are the same hypocrites who were outraged by Bill Clinton.

And if you think this whole process served no purpose, have a conversation sometime with a woman who has been the victim of sexual assault. To be precise, three Democrats voted for Gorsuch: Manchin, Donnelly, and Heitkamp. The reason Gorsuch was not treated the same way as Kavanaugh was Gorsuch would replace a solid conservative in Scalia while Kavanaugh would replace a right of center justice, Kennedy. Kavanaugh, conceivably, could shift the court right. If you will recall, after Dr. Ford's testimony, I said she was credible. Unfortunately, there was no first hand supporting evidence to support her claims. None of the people she said were at the party backed up her testimony. Add this to the fact that, several days before she appeared before the committee, she said she could not be positive it was Kavanaugh, while before the committee she said she was 100% sure. It is certainly conceivable she was truthful in front of the committee but she failed to provide evidence to support her.

It is certainly conceivable that Kavanaugh perjured himself before the committee about his drinking at Georgetown Prep and at Yale but the committee and the scumbag in the White House (including that factotum Don McGahn) failed to allow the FBI to investigate the evidence that would have proved it. Perjury is okay for Republicans but not Democrats? Totally ignored by the morally bankrupt GOP and the Trump supporters. Ignorant as the day is long. In fact, they revel in their ignorance and vileness. Last Thursday, Kavanaugh testified to the Senate Judiciary Committee in a hearing, which was heavily rigged in his favor because Republicans limited senators to five minutes of questioning and disallowed any other witnesses, on Christine Blasey Ford's allegations of sexual assault against him. As in previous interviews and testimony, his statements were riddled with misrepresentations, diversions, and outright lies, so much so that The New York Times posted a fact-check, Vox made a chart of every time Kavanaugh dodged a question, and Current Affairs' Nathan Robinson dissected the testimony in an exhaustive 10,000-word refutation, "How We Know Kavanaugh Is Lying." www.gq.com/story/all-of-brett-kavanaughs-lies

I'd love for her to create a HoyaTalk account and articulate them. We'd probably crap on her (it's how we roll) but I'd still welcome another dissenting voice.

McGahn is friends with Kavanaugh, has long relationship with him, pushed Trump to make him the SCOTUS nominee, & withheld 100k documents on him (exec privilege). Don McGahn told Trump a wide ranging probe could doom Kavanaugh’s confirmation. That sounds like a man whose integrity is beyond reproach and who is deserving of a seat on the highest court in the land...
