We're losing starters to Cal Baptist & Tulane (and others to Pacific/EMU/SEMoSt), and complaining that our new backup big has only 2 big 6 offers after leaving LSU? Sweet. It was reported that Ezewiro final three choices were Nevada, Oregon State and UAB. Ezewiro did mention there were other major programs recruiting him and then Gtown came on board and most likely promised more playing time. NYC, I think Ezewiro has the opportunity to start at center. Ewing mention he wants a tough and physical low post player.

"away on a field trip for his wine class for 21 days." Why didn't we think of that euphemism in my undergrad days? Wusses. Only 21 days? Whenever I return to the Tombs and see the 99 days club I wonder where that was when I was in school because I easily doubled that.

On a completely different topic, I wonder why we don’t get more support and attendance from the DC community. A real head scratcher. hm

Did he graduate yesterday? I've looked and I can't find him: College (awards both BS 1:52:00 and BA 2:18:16) : Nursing (1:36:13) : Business (1:46:50) : SFS (2:27:36) : I'm not sure why he would have graduated though since he was a Junior and the "maybe he graduated already" argument was just a refusal to believe we're running Seniors off of the team.

Did he graduate yesterday? No. Other than Jaden Robinson, last seen as a walk-on in 2020, no current players graduated, and that includes Carey and Rice. It's prohibitive that any student, much less scholarship athletes, will graduate in three years at Georgetown. Here are some reasons: 1. Georgetown does not have an accelerated degree program. There is a limit of five courses per semester (15 hours) in most schools and a dean's level waiver would be needed to add a sixth course (18 hours) after freshman year. Thus, the likely ceiling a student could take is 10 courses per year as a freshman and 11 courses per year over his next two years which would leave him approximately 24 hours short of the minimum requirment by the end of junior year. Adding in a potential two courses from Community Scholars and four courses from two years in summer school still comes up short. 2. Joint degree programs do not return an early degree. Georgetown has dual degree programs such as the BS/MS, BSFS/MSFS, BSBA/MSFS, or BSBA/BSEE, with the engineering degree taken at Columbia University. While the undergraduate portion is completed in three, the degree is not awarded until both programs have been fulfilled, which is minimum of five and often six years. 3. So could someone transfer college-level courses from high school? Yes, but it is very limited. Georgetown will more likely to accept advance standing as opposed to waiving core requirements. 4. A minimum of 20 hrs/week for practice time plus in-season travel would capsize any attempt at jamming in 40 courses within three years for an athlete. And because Georgetown doesn't do convenience redshirting (except in track to allow a 5th year in the fall season), it's not something an academic advisor would even consider signing off on. When you hear about players graduating in three years, the redshirt year helps. Johnny Manziel left Texas A&M after two seasons (plus a redshirt year) but still didn't have enough credits in his major of " Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences", most of which he took online. Duke does have an accelerated degree program which a handful of basketball players have apparently used. However, Duke requires as few as 34 courses (minimum 102 hours) for some of its BA degrees (plus any major-specific requirement) and accepts AP credits as an "acceleration" means to get to graduate early. Georgetown's minimum is 120 hours across all schools.

While I'm all for seeing a grainy video of Tim from a few years ago ala The Air Up There and having the team take a flyer on a raw 7' 250 center ... Tim really never should have been a starting center at Georgetown, at least last year. He was Plan C at best -- after Q and King didn't show up. I think it's fair to say that Tim would have been a nice 10 minute guy coming off the bench last year and this year ... but only if the team/roster had the luxury of carrying a guy like him. This team has so many pressing needs that there is no luxury of keeping anyone who definitely can't make a contribution this season. I'm sure he'll be fine and I'm optimistic that nearly anyone of the right height and size will be an improvement over our starting center last year. Yes, he could rebound a little bit ... but good lord he had hands of stone.

Georgetown's minimum is 120 hours across all schools. These are good points and useful info. Having been a student athlete at Gtown I can attest that taking anything over 15 hours a semester and playing would be a challenge and borderline undoable. People frequently forget about the offseason demands of players which are still considerable. The one thing I always assumed was that these guys were likely picking up about 6 credits during the summer. Over three summers, that knocks out another semester. Now maybe that is just so they can take 12 credits and lessen the load during the season though. I would think Don with all of the school work at his prior two colleges would have at least captured his degree at Gtown. But I can see how Tim may not have.
