Coyne was the guy who ran Little Flower when I was in grade school. No one said why he "retired" at the time, and now the Archdiocese told the Post say it was due to one accusation about an incident with a girl in 1962. But in asking around now, I found out the father of another girl made a complaint to the church about him decades later so there was at least one more. They did nothing at the time, the parish had no comment yesterday, and they are STILL not telling the truth. Unreal.

Not sad enough, apparently.

The Maryland Province Jesuits, a Catholic religious order with priests serving throughout the Washington area and across eight states, released a list Monday of priests in the order who have been credibly accused of abusing children since the 1950s. The men accused of abusing minors served in high schools, including Gonzaga College High School in the District; in colleges, including St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania, Wake Forest University in North Carolina and several more; at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital; at churches in the District and Baltimore; and other institutions. www.washingtonpost.com/religion/2018/12/17/jesuits-name-priests-credibly-accused-sexually-abusing-children-including-dc-area/?utm_term=.d906b001467d

You’d have to be dumber than Trump to think the church has any interest in really investigating and getting genuine answers about this whole mess.

A catholic priest warning us about things that can harm children. This guy has some serious balls.

A bishop has the obligation to discuss issues of faith and morals within his episcopate. You may not agree with it but it is certainly within the right of the bishop to speak his mind.

People who are part of the Catholic Church have no coherent set of morals and ought to refrain from lecturing the rest of us who think that raping kids and destroying their lives is a bad thing.

This may be your least persuasive argument yet and is really more trolling than advancing a point. Clearly 1.1 billion people should not be judged as you seem eager to be doing, and this doesn’t even start on the faith traditions of Islam or Orthodox Judaism which are even more pronounced on these matters.

Those are terrible too. People who are members of and support these organizations that destroy lives are complicit in the crimes. That includes you. When you choose to remain, you are voting yes in favor of, at the very least, the cover up. And, for what? A bunch of Bronze Age superstitions. It’s crazy.
