Oh my god. Do we have to now add fine print on all of our posts now that the content therein is solely the OPINION of the author and may not reflect the opinions of the moderators of this board, the university, the Wisey's guy, and so forth? Come on people. I know it's been a long off season, but can we try to not be so uptight? It's pretty clear almost everything written on here is the writer's opinion, unless they are directly claiming some form of inside knowledge. I don't want to have to add "but that's just my opinion" to every post. Maybe posters can just stop asserting their opinion as fact.

I don't want to have to add "but that's just my opinion" to every post. The post said: "he will not commit to a school without a OV." That is stated as if it were a fact about the process that Baker is using. If a poster is going to represent a statement as fact about the decision making process/results for a high school athlete who is pondering one of the biggest decisions of their lives, then the poster either needs to back up that statement with credentials about why I should believe they know something about it, or just don't state it like it is a fact. Doesn't seem like too much to ask to me.

Next time I will state I have no affiliation with the basketball team. my mistake And you still apparently don’t understand. You are forcing YOUR OPINIONS on the rest by asserting them as facts. You could easily fix this by acknowledging what you are communicating is your opinion. “I don’t believe he is likely to commit if he hasn’t visited campus.” It is pretty easy.

I don't want to have to add "but that's just my opinion" to every post. Maybe posters can just stop asserting their opinion as fact. Sigh. Okay. Let me get this straight: you knew he was stating an opinion. You didn't ask for his proof or if it was a fact--you simply stated he shouldn't state opinion as fact. So you were able to determine the difference between someone stating an opinion and stating a fact. I'm assuming (and perhaps I'm wrong), that you're not an off-the-charts genius but a generally smart, reasonable person. Just like everyone else on this board. And you were able to figure it out. SO WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT!?!? You knew it was an opinion. I knew it was an opinion. Everyone here knew it was an opinion. Are you just arguing to be an ass? I go back to my original point. We need the season to start so the easily offended among us will have something real to be offended by (although we will only have things to celebrate this season--my opinion, not a fact). And I'm done with this discussion.

For me, it is a matter of ethics with language.
Trump does this all the time. “You can’t have a country if you don’t steel” or “You can’t have a country if you don’t have secure borders.” These are opinions not facts. I imagine we could find many countries that have neither steel nor secure borders.
Increasingly, asserting ones’ opinions as facts seems a real douchbag thing to do. It is akin to gaslighting.

This isn’t a presidential twitter account or rally. It’s a message board for people who really don’t know much to talk about a damn sports team. Get real.

Besides being an opinion, the statement in question was also false. “If he doesn't come for a visit we are not in the running.” I guess I left that part out. When I was annoying you, did I make a false statement that I presented as fact?

Wow... an all caps tirade... kinda makes you question who is really "uptight".
Anyways it would be nice if Baker could give us some news to distract us from bickering. Come on Will, don't you want to get out and see the world? Nothing wrong with Texas but Washington DC is a great city to experience living in.

Please don't compare anything in this thread to the "discourse" that emanates from the White House on a daily basis. Please.

It is good to see Georgetown as one of Baker's final three. Georgetown doesn't have much to offer along the lines of an actual film school, but if he wants one of the best big men ever getting him ready for the NBA, then Georgetown has an edge. Hoyas need to be pitching Baker at what a great graduate film school USC has.

Texas is the hometown school. Stays close to the family. Has a good relationship with shaka smart.
UCLA offeres the a lot with the living in a big city like L.A.. Easy access for film directing and movies. One thing about the ucla bball program is that they loaded with plenty of bigs already especially if Moses Brown comes back for his soph yr.
Georgetown would offer immediate playing time and learning from a hall of fame big man on coach Ewing.

It's like kids who talk about how Georgetown has a great foreign service program.

It is a good work load, but others have done math as well at least one double major.
