Lochner with 2 goals 38 seconds apart to put the nail in the Providence coffin.

It will be home against Marquette, as the Golden Eagles outlast Creighton after 2 halves, 2 OT periods, and 12(?!) rounds of penalty kicks.

It will be home against Marquette, as the Golden Eagles outlast Creighton after 2 halves, 2 OT periods, and 12(?!) rounds of penalty kicks. And that's on the heels of nine rounds of PKs for the Golden Eagles to advance past Xavier in the first round. Astounding - that has got to be a record of some sort. High drama in Omaha. I imagine half the players will be wired and sleepless for the next 12 hours, while the other half will collapse in physical and mental exhaustion the second they buckle themselves into their airplane seat. Marquette played the Hoyas real tough earlier this season, grinding out a scoreless draw in Milwaukee despite being down a man for half an hour plus. On the other hand, the Hoyas are going on all cylinders right now. Anything could happen. But I like them odds.

Love that our boys will play the final at home. Have to watch on line as Harry is running the Lemon Run that day.

Very nice to have the home game. In recent years, didn't they play the BE Championship game at a neutral (or at least pre-determined) pro stadium? I assume attendance was not sufficient to continue with that, but hope they can pack in a good crowd for this one.
They had it at the Philadelphia MLS stadium in Chester. --Admin

Gotta say, it's kind of amazing to look at a program like Creighton that gets actual regular coverage from its city flagship newspaper and other media, e.g., www.omaha.com/creighton/mens-soccer/ncaa-tournament-future-uncertain-for-creighton-men-s-soccer-after/article_0efbbbf3-a964-5f9f-9791-bb7903ecc9ce.htmlOne wonders how much of a role such things can play in recruiting, fundraising, etc. For better or worse, something like Georgetown soccer will pretty much always be no more than a blip on the DC landscape. Aaaaanyway... pretty shocking results in both semis to me. Putting 4 on Provy was not at all something I saw coming, especially since getting a straight red outside the 18 in college soccer typically requires you commit an actual war crime. With that showing and the Hoyas win in Creighton just a little while ago, I was feeling pretty good about their chances... and then Marquette pulled off the shocker. Marquette who comes into the championship game with a losing record at 7-8-3 (the only draw other than their two tournament matches? The regular season game against Georgetown). Marquette who is 1-5-1 away from Valley Fields this year, the lone winning coming at last-place Butler. Marquette who nonetheless boasts the Big East Goalkeeper of the Year and one of the three defenders on the All Big East First Team. It's been a bit of an up-and-down season for the Hoyas, with a number of missed chances and coulda beens. But here, the stars have aligned in their favor. Time to bring home the hardware and add one more brick to the foundation of a consistently top-flight national caliber program.

Great to see Brendan open the scoring. He is the unquestioned leader of that team and deserves that moment.
He has also been a great friend to Harry.
Well done Captain!!
