Starting this thread early, but since there are two interim head coaches heading into the upcoming season, with a third head coach having announced his "retirement" (probably forced upon him by the athletic department at Temple), I'm opening it up now.
Newly added information is in bold. Former Big East Conference head coaches are indicated in italics. Open Division I head coaching positions are indicated by underline. There are presently 2 Division I head coaching vacancies.
ALABAMA A&M (Southwest)-- Donnie Marsh (1 year; 3-28 this season and at AA&M; 34-112 overall) resigned May 11, 2018 to accept an assistant coaching position at Florida Gulf Coast, and was replaced as head coach on an interim basis May 18, 2018 for the 2018-2019 season by Dylan Howard (associate head coach at AA&M). MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE (Mid-Eastern)-- Bobby Collins (4 years; 7-25 this season; 49-81 at UMES; 229-248 overall) was fired March 26, 2018, and was replaced as head coach on an interim basis March 27, 2018 for the 2018-2019 season by Clifford Reed (associate head coach at UMES). TEMPLE (American)-- Fran Dunphy (12 years; 17-16 this season; 247-152 at Temple; 557-315 overall) will step down as head coach at the conclusion of the 2018-2019 season, and will be replaced as head coach by Aaron McKie (assistant coach at Temple), as announced by the university April 11, 2018.

Well my wife, her brother and all the jilted fans at New Mexico that he left behind will certainly welcome this news. Always thought Alford was a decent coach, but questioned whether he was good enough to consistently meet the expectations at UCLA, particularly since he was not the first choice to take that job. Given what he did at New Mexico with limited talent, his performance at UCLA with a major upgrade in talent was very disappointing.

I know Steve Alford lost to Liberty by 15 pts, but I still would have let him finish the season out as he might have still have been able to get a post-season birth.

That would only have happened if UCLA either won the Pac-12 or the conference tournament, both of which are unlikely, since the team seemed to be disintegrating before our eyes. I watched the Liberty game. It was a complete joke. I can't remember when I've last seen a team so poorly prepared for a game. The whole team played out of control on what seemed like at least every other possession. It wasn't a matter of just missing shots. The team looked clueless.
