Admin threatening to end the Republican Party thread! Waaah!!
Very Trumpian… 🤐
There’s a saying in the college basketball world that teams play like the coaches that lead them. This will be true of Georgetown under Cooley’s staff as well. “Discipline is a staple. Toughness, energy, connection, and enthusiasm. Those things will also be staples of our organization,” he said.
Or a thread: HoyaTalk "Republicans" Defense of Their Party/Cult.
It would receive zero posts! 😁
I understand the Admins' impetus for evaluating the need for the thread. But, just because it's an echo chamber doesn't disallow those with differing opinions from posting. And, barring all of that, there's detestable stuff coming out every single day that is threatening to American democracy and our institutions. I feel like there should be a place to post those things. Sure, "Republicans" don't respond. They can't justify any of it. But, it's not just b!tch!ing and moaning. There are very real things about which to be concerned coming from the Right. It seems that containing it to one thread that snowflake "Republicans" can just avoid is probably the simplest way to go.

I agree. As I’ve said before, SS provides invaluable information from the Capital press. Anyone can respond to his posts. The fact that no Republican wants to answer his requests for an opinion/counterpoint does not make it an echo chamber.

I agree. I do find it apropos, however, that the thread about the "Republican" party is shut down. In that sense, it should have happened years ago.

Cancel culture so our poor victimized snowflake "Republicans" don't get their feelings hurt.

The ironic part to me is that, seemingly, they can ignore everything going on with their own "party" but one thread on the entirety of the board is a bridge too far to ignore.

Have to wonder after McCarthy fails the first vote for speaker whether the dems can get some NY, NJ, CONN, California and Illinois republicans to nominate a moderate republican Democrats would be willing to vote into the speakership. They might be smart to do so with the promise of reversing the SALT tax rules limited by the Trump Tax plan. I know many high earning republicans and democrats in high property tax states are paying far more in federal tax since the Trump Tax "cut." Proposing Liz Cheney as speaker and getting her some moderate democratic votes would also be a way to reward her for taking the risks she did serving to protect our democracy. Probably couldn't muster enough votes for someone not actually elected for Congress but it would be an interesting statement!

I actually proposed something similar to this shortly after the election, but I just can't see it happening, as much as I wish it would.
