St Johns beats Xavier in 5 sets. Doesn't mean we beat St. Johns therefore ..... But it does mean we are looking at another BE match we should be in the middle of

A huge 5-set road win at Villanova, who finished 11-7 in the Big East last season. It’s the first 2-0 conference start in over 15 seasons.
Looks like things are starting to click for these Hoyas.

Wow. Really surprised. I have to admit I had written this match off and didn’t even look at it
Very nicely done.

Very exciting match—In spite of the service, passing and attack errors. Impressive that Hoyas came back after being down by 2. Based on last two matches, Rens might want to reconsider his starting lineup. In both games, team lost first two sets until he pulled Sinnette and made some RS and OH adjustments. UMES transfer has a longer leash, but her passing often puts team out of system. She has good energy and a nice swing. Team should be able to beat Seton Hall tomorrow, but Marquette will be a tough one if team continues to struggle with defense and service errors.

If this team continues to fight like they did against Villanova and St. John's they are going to be a lot of fun to watch. When a team has the attitude they are never out of a match no matter how far behind -- and being down 12-7 in the fifth set is the perfect example -- they can be trouble for the rest of the league. Looking forward to this week's games!

Raise your hand if you saw this team opening Big East play 3-0.
Well done Hoyas!

Tough match against Marquette. Blocking, serving and passing issues cost games. Hitters struggled to pass-particularly the UMES transfer. Rens should have pulled her long before Set 3. She is not a 6-ro player; the kills she makes are often offset by her errors in back row. She is unable to pass and good teams have figured that out and have started to target her. She consistently puts team out of system with poor passing. Rens needs to pull her out of that back row asap. Keep her as a front row player only. She has a strong swing and nice serve. Keep Barbosa in 6-ro and sub in Kelly for UMES transfer in back row. Sadly, Sinette adds next to nothing at net-her hitting percentage is consistently underwhelming and she can’t pass. Wertzberger is a better bet at net. Overall blocking was weak and Higareda was getting crushed. Sloppy play. Good news is DePaul should be an easy win tomorrow, in spite of team’s passing, blocking and serving issues. Rooting for the coaches and the team to keep going!

Vujosevic's attacking from back row is much needed as another option to the offense, but, yes, her defense needs improvement.

Unfortunately her back row kills do not offset her back row errors, volleyballjack. She has a lot of energy and a powerful swing-use her where she best contributes. Don’t mean to be negative-just have watched multiple games where her weak passing puts team out of system, thereby costing team opportunities to make kills. Team has a lot of depth (so coach should use it) and has proven to be very effective when defense is solid. Very exciting season so far, and I look forward to watching this team have many more wins. Hoya Saxa!

Did not see the DePaul debacle coming. Did anyone watch this match? I came in during the fourth set. Very out of sync it appeared. Some tough games coming up.

What a debacle-and I’m not just referring to the poor play. I’m not going to go into the multiple playing errors because they are symptomatic of a larger issue. Went to the match against DePaul last night and had the chance to get an up-close view of some of the worst sportsmanlike behavior I’ve seen on the court. Rens has created a monster-or at the very least, unleashed her on this team-which is costing wins and obvious morale issues. It was obvious that GU teammates don’t like to play with Vujosevic . And I don’t blame them. I watched UMES transfer strut, swear and preen all night long -basically acting like a diva. Worst part is that she doesn’t have the goods to back up her attitude. As usual, weak passing, but she also fell apart at net and couldn’t deliver the kills. Rens again did not pull her until it was too late for the Hoyas to recover. Rens needs to look at the video from past weekend and wake up. Lowest point in the match was when I witnessed Vujosevic go after her own teammate-and I don’t just mean trash talking and swearing. I was astounded to watch her go after her own setter-looked like she was about to attack her before teammates stepped in. No wonder Hoyas lost what should have been an easy win. Poor sportsmanship and distracting diva behavior is costing this team in more than just conference wins.

Does anyone know what's up with Vujosevic? It appears not playing first set at Butler? They sure could use her.

Or not, as the Hoyas pick up a 3-0 Road Win.
Maybe the coach saw something he didn’t like in the last game.

Maybe coach didn’t like her poor attitude and inability to be a team player. At any rate, team proved they don’t need Vujosevic to win. Keep going Hoyas!

Vujosevic back on the court tonight and the Hoyas with another 3-0 road win, led by Speech with 12 kills and a 37.5 hitting %. If yesterday’s sitting was a message, it may have been received, though Vujosevic is still really high in TA.

That is an understatement. Vujosevic took 1/3 of the attacks. And only hit .125 I know it is hard to get middles set - especially out of system - but you would think Speech should get more touches than she does.
Didn't see any video so was very curious how she operated after sitting for a match. But overall no complaints on 2 BE wins over the weekend. Currently third in the BE. Count me as one who didn't see that coming.

I'd say Vujosevic operated at a high enough level to help her teammates beat a team they've never beaten. I get she might be rough around the edges on the court but sometimes cockiness and swag rubs off and turns into the type of attitude that teams need to win games. Not just Vujosevic, I see others this season not accepting being behind , and it's great to watch. Now if they can get some of their classmates in the gym to watch them play. It's a shame the volleyball team missed the Hoya Madness event. Exposure to the campus life is so important for building fans. I hope the athletic administration pays attention and doesn't blow a big opportunity with the volleyball team. Just imagine if they could fill McDonough for games. Charge a few bucks. Sell popcorn and drinks. Get some national exposure for Georgetown volleyball.

Her “cockiness” and “swag” (that Marquette players mocked last weekend) is more likely distracting and at best annoying to her teammates, volkeyballjack. I’d say the team wins in spite of her drama queen performances, not because of them. Her passing is still poor-a dig up is not the same as passing in system. And to answer why Soeech doesn’t get set more balls? It depends on the pass. Passing in system gives setter options to feed balls to her middles. Popping up balls willy nilly limits options to set team’s strongest hitter, which is Speech. Still stand by my earlier observation that coach should get Vujosevic out of back row. Glad to see the two wins and that team is showing grit. Go Hoyas!

No doubt it all begins with the passing. Couldn't agree more.
