Just FYI, this story is from last year, and conditions have changed a lot since then. Since there's not enough money to provide humane detention space in sufficient quantities, they've gone with the "don't hold them, but rather get them out of the country immediately" solution - I'm putting the biggest air quotes around 'solution' imaginable.

Not that context is ever required here but he was referring to gang members like MS 13 when he made those comments. Those creatures are animals and should be treated as such. Going back to page 1, he didn't mean MS13. Forced sterilization : www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/ice-nurse-revealed-georgia-detention-215816246.htmlI waited till this was reported by a mainstream outlet to post this, since although it looks like the story was broken by a Georgetown graduate and a former lacrosse player, it seemed pretty out there, but I guess this is where we are as a nation.

We‘ve got concentration camps and forced sterilization under Trump. I was told that it couldn’t happen here. Goodwin’s Law needs to be updated.

Many Christians don’t know the first thing about how the Old Testament approaches immigration, refugees, and asylum seekers. Instead of asking and inquiring, they go to the law. Many don’t bother asking what the NT says about the same thing and they, too, go to the law. Is that the first place to go for Christian thinking about this very public and moral issue? No. www.christianitytoday.com/scot-mcknight/2020/september/our-christian-faith-and-border.html

Another courtroom loss. Tired of so much winning yet? And look who the plaintiff is -- a heretofore reliable Republican organization until you know who took over the GOP. It wasn't a hostile takeover, however. It was an abject surrender of any principles it may have once believed in. In an important ruling on Oct. 1, Judge Jeffrey White of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California granted a preliminary injunction against President Trump’s nonimmigrant visa ban (NIV ban). The ban would have suspended visas for many temporary skilled workers and their families, regardless of their country of origin. White’s ruling in National Association of Manufacturers v. U.S. Department of Homeland Security means that the National Association of Manufacturers and members of other groups that challenged the ban can continue to benefit from skilled temporary foreign national workers who also aid the U.S. economy. www.lawfareblog.com/federal-court-halts-trumps-ban-nonimmigrant-visas

Where did she state that? When she would not accept Secretary Nielsen’s answer that they are treated the same as children of American criminals. The clear implication is that US policy is to separate immigrant children. It isn’t. Oh look, US policy was to separate immigrant children.

No idea how folks of good conscious aren't absolutely disgusted by this. That's the picture of a baby on her phone. There's no way the punishment matched the crime. It's just wrong.

A federal judge in New York has ruled that acting homeland security secretary Chad Wolf lacked the authority to limit the work permits of hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as children because his appointment to the top position in the department did not appear to be lawful. U.S. District Judge Nicholas G. Garaufis — one of the first judges to block President Trump from phasing out the work permits the government issues via the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA — said in an unusual Saturday ruling that the “plain text” of the department’s order of succession showed that Wolf’s ascension to acting secretary did not follow established law and was part of several hastily crafted administration moves designed to get people into the top DHS position outside of standard procedures. As a result, Garaufis said, Wolf’s memo in July limiting the validity of the DACA permits from two years to one year “was not an exercise of legal authority.” www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/dhs-secretary-unlawful-daca/2020/11/15/c52ae64e-26d1-11eb-8672-c281c7a2c96e_story.html

Judge Sullivan strikes again. He's also done a very stealthy job of flying beneath the radar on the Michael Flynn sentencing. Can he possibly continue Flynn's sentencing hearing until January 20, 2021, noon when a non-corrupt acting Attorney General can withdraw the motion to dismiss? Or will the Mango Mussolini pardon Flynn on the way out the door? A federal judge on Wednesday ordered the Trump administration to halt its practice of “expelling” underage migrants who enter the United States without a parent, a ruling that also cast doubt on the broader legality of the emergency public health measures the U.S. government has used since March to impose strict border controls. U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan’s preliminary injunction requires the Trump administration to once more process the humanitarian claims of minors who cross the U.S. border alone, rather than returning them to Mexico or flying them back to their home countries without due process. www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/judge-halts-expulsion-minors-border-covid/2020/11/18/80e58c52-29b8-11eb-b847-66c66ace1afb_story.html

Former Republican George Will. Immigration, a wit has said, is the sincerest form of flattery. This dispirited nation needs some of that, so President Biden has wisely made immigration reform his initial legislative proposal. The nation also needs a healthy opposition party, and the impending immigration debate will give the Republican Party an early opportunity to rehabilitate its reputation by adopting policies unlike those of Biden’s predecessor, who propelled his ascent to the presidency by stoking anxieties about immigration. Congressional Republicans will have to choose between aligning with the animosity of constituents who misunderstand how this nation has prospered by assimilating 100 million immigrants, or with the generosity of the United States’ majority. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/immigration-is-the-sincerest-form-of-flattery-this-country-needs-a-good-hit-of-it/2021/01/21/eb554434-5c2a-11eb-8bcf-3877871c819d_story.html
