Several people on the list told @nbcnews that they had been pulled aside at the border after the date the list was compiled and were told they were being questioned as part of a "national security investigation."
During that screening, journalists and lawyers describe being told that they are being interviewed as part of a national security investigation and that they must give officers access to their cell phones.
It has a real chilling effect on people who might go down there. I was going to go this week, but I had to worry about whether I could get back in [to the US]," one lawyer speaking on the condition of anonymity told @nbcnews.

Black sites for kids... Awesome
The federal government is relying on a collection of secret shelters to hold unaccompanied minors. This is happening in at least 5 states, but likely in many more. Part of what's wrong here is that, without knowing the locations of the places holding some of the most vulnerable children in the world, attorneys can't get to them. And reporters can't be watchdogs for you, the public. We literally can't report on it if we don't know it exists.
We're *still* waiting on records requests we put in at various local and federal agencies. In the meantime, what we've learned is disturbing. Like kids being kept in facilities that also house adults. Adults who've complained of harassment and abuse. Adults with broken bones.
Aside from the federal government, who else knew this was happening? Naturally, the children in these places and their sponsors. We tracked some of those sponsors. One even talked to us on the record. He doesn't care if it's secret or not. He just wants the child released.
Another interesting find? Some of the facilities are run by Acadia, a company traded on the NASDAQ. You can buy stocks for a company that's holding unaccompanied children. Publicly traded but not publicly known. Patrick's been drilling into calls with shareholders and...just wow.
It doesn't end there, of course. Some of the nonprofits are pretty interesting. One of the nonprofit's board members is James Schwab who, until December, was @vice's president. Another nonprofit board includes Oliver North and Brit Hume.
Sweet....

With each passing day, Trump out-scumbags himself. SAD!

I don't care what one's opinion on immigration is. This should never have happened. We can't allow this to ever happen again if it can be helped. A 7 year old child's life should not be in danger as a result of our views/disagreements on immigration policies. We should all be ashamed. I'm ashamed. Parents shouldn't have to bury their children and they should, under no circumstance, have to bury their children as a result of our gross negligence and xenophobia.

This alone should be enough to toss the members of this administration out on their collective ass. The fact that it's not is a very sad commentary on where we are as a country.

Nielsen knifed by Stephen Miller to make way for Kris Kobach or some other sociopath that will go even further into the human rights violation playbooks so that Trump can launder money to Russian oligarchs with his wall.
Great career choice to work for this administration, Kirstjen, your name is now synonymous with putting babies in cages and the administration is going to spit at you on your way out.

You misread my sarcasm. The 9th Circuit read the INA and concluded that the DACA EO comported with the statutory scheme. The SCT is waiting for a circuit split and I agree that it will likely grant cert. this year. The "emergency" is the fact that Trump could not achieve legislatively in order to keep a campaign promise. That circumstance has not been addressed by the SCT but likely will be as well. In any event, I agree both issues will reach the SCT. And still no rebuttal to Boot's opinion but you will rely upon an ad hominem attack because he's a neocon? Fine. As for Boot I believe that his commentary is not fact based and is based upon emotion. Plus I feel that he is chapped because Trump ran and won on the idea of not starting needless wars. But at least your response was reasoned and a true analysis of the facts and law. 😃 What about needless crises? What about needless decimation of families? What about needless demonization of Mexicans and South Americans? What about needless coddling of Russia? What about needless tax cuts for the insanely wealthy? What about needless threats of revocation of health care for 20+ million people? What about needless stoking of racial tensions? What about needless increases in the military budget with little in the way of benefits of servicepeople or vets? I could go on for a while but you don't care about any of those things anyway.

It's not hard to figure out Mr Law and Order believes the law is there to serve him and his interests. He shouldn't have to follow the law. The law should follow him

The problem is that trump supporters are looking, like what they see, and want more.

What do you specifically propose as a solution to this problem in Honduras? For starters, how about not cutting aid to Honduras? I know it's part of his plan to manufacture a border crisis for reelection to cut aid to all of these countries so he can generate more caravans, but that seems counterproductive if you want actually want to stem illegal immigration.
