Every day in courtrooms around this country, the children of American citizens are separated from their parents by operation of law.
In Kamalaland, the children of non -citizens deserve more protection.
No thanks.

This seems like the suitably morally bankrupt place for this :

This seems like the suitably morally bankrupt place for this : Not that context is ever required here but he was referring to gang members like MS 13 when he made those comments. Those creatures are animals and should be treated as such.

By no means did he make any reference to gang members or MS13 then.

He was talking about recidivist criminals illegal immigrants. Maybe not In that discreet clip but in the talk in general. Even the NY Daily News which loathes Trump, reported the comment as being directed at Illegal immigrant gang members and specifically mentioned MS 13.
If he were referring to all immigrants as animals it woukd be indefensible. If as I understand to be the case, he as referring to recidivist criminals and gang members he is spot on.

Agreed. However, I for one am quite comfortable with referring to MS 13 members as animals. I really don’t agonize much over the feelings of those who wish to kill innocent people.

Show us where he specified he was talking about MS-13 members and not deported immigrants writ large. The payroll isn't even fully backing him on this one :

I respectfully refer you to the NY Daily News report. Trump has no bigger critic than the NYD.
I would link it but I am not tech-savvy.

Is this the thread where we dunk on immigrant children?! My favorite part of the original post is the seeming outrage that we are treating immigrant families different from red-blooded American sexual predators and child abusers with citizenship.

You both are much smarter than that. Senator Harris, eyes clearly fixed on 2020, completely misstated the enforcement at the border as a policy to separate families.
It is not and she well knows it. Secretary Nielsen accurately pointed out that every day in this country, families are separated as a result of criminal activity by parents.
Sure solution to the problem of people being separated, stop trying to sneak into the US.

Agreed. However, I for one am quite comfortable with referring to MS 13 members as animals. I really don’t agonize much over the feelings of those who wish to kill innocent people. Some of the kids who join MS13 are scared, vulnerable, and don't see other options. I wonder whether dehumanizing them leads to accurate and effective remediation.

I am quite sure dehumanizing does nothing to remediate them. However, deporting them and making that stick does much to protect the innocent from them, so I will choose door number 2.

In West Virginia, Republican Senate candidate Don Blankenship accused Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) of creating jobs for “China people” and getting donations from his “China family.” (McConnell’s wife, Elaine Chao, was born in Taiwan.) In Georgia, Republican gubernatorial candidate Michael Williams drives around in a bus he promises to fill with “illegals” who will be deported to Mexico. On the rear is stamped: “Murderers, rapists, kidnappers, child molestors [sic], and other criminals on board.” In Arizona, Republican Senate candidate (and former Maricopa County sheriff) Joe Arpaio is a proud “birther” with a history of profiling and abusing Hispanic migrants. Vice President Pence recently called Arpaio “a great friend of this president, a tireless champion of strong borders and the rule of law.” In Wisconsin, Republican House candidate Paul Nehlen runs as a “pro-white Christian American candidate.” Yes, these are fringe figures. But they are fringe figures in a political atmosphere they correctly view as favorable. In the Republican Party, cranks and bigots are closer to legitimacy than at any time since William F. Buckley banished the John Birch Society.
[It] has given permission for the public expression of shameful sentiments. People such as Blankenship, Williams, Arpaio and Nehlen are part of a relatively (and thankfully) small political group. But the president has set boundaries of political discourse that include them and encourage them. Even when Trump opposes their candidacies, he has enabled the bolder, more confident expression of their bigotry. The Trump era is a renaissance of half-witted intolerance. Trump’s Christian supporters in particular must be so proud. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/the-trump-era-is-a-renaissance-of-half-witted-intolerance/2018/05/17/09c8848c-59f7-11e8-858f-12becb4d6067_story.html?utm_term=.8abe71ebd5c2
