The Hoyas best chance of a Penn Relay championship is in the 4x800m relay. They would probably be favored if Joe White were running. Since he hasn't run all year, I don't know what to expect. This would be a great time for him to debut.

The men placed 5th in the DMR. Nova seems to be winning all the relays. Ugh! Spenser Brown and Amos Bartelsmeyer ran the best legs as they both had the 2nd fastest legs for the distance. Rey Rivera must have had an off day, because he has been running well this spring. He had the 7th fastest 800m leg.

Too bad no Joe White. I think we would have had a good shot for the win with JW in the mix. Great open and anchor legs, terrible qtr and so so 800.
Women's run probably as good as one could expect with no real 1500 runners. Placing was ok but probably slowest time for Gtwn in 2 decades. Gtown pretty consistently runs about 30 sec faster in this event when we have an average team and maybe 45-50 sec faster when we have a top squad. Typically we'd have to face either stanford, ore, much but none of those teams showed this yr. Relatively weak fields this year for both the mens and women races.

The fields for the Penn Relays have become diluted with the addition of other relay festivals around the country. Too bad because the PR were the premiere relay meet of the country (maybe along with Drake).
I am wondering if Rey Rivera fell or got interfered with because his time was 2-3 seconds over his average times this spring.
An indication of the women's team not performing this spring is in the lineup for the 4x800m today. The Hoyas are not even on the list of starting teams, and two years ago they won this event.

National record in this event, 4x1 mile is held by Oregon:
NR Oregon 16:03.24 2009 Matthew Centrowitz (3:59.53), Andrew Wheating (3:59.60), Shadrack Biwott (4:05.20), Galen Rupp (3:58.91)
Curious that the last two on this national record team are now marathoners. I ran into Shadrack Thursday on my workout, as we live in the same town, and apparently share the same trails. Shadrack was doing some easy running, still recovering from his 3rd place finish (and first American) in the Boston Marathon.
