Him as a junior and Leblanc and a senior wouldn’t allow any points in the paint

He’s the type that will need some seasoning but could be a very solid get but his junior year.

Hmmm... His numbers there are project-like. Again, we need to have players on the court who can play both ways if we're going to compete vs Nova. Does 4 points per game vs. better competition fit that metric? I guess I have to TTS

...but what is the initial role for this kid.
I have to assume Yurt7 is getting close to 25-30 mins a game.
So if Wilson year 1 is the second unit center at 12-15 mins a game and a defensive presence with the second team then I don't have an issue w/his limited offense to beging his career here...

Is he a gym rat? That's the new requirement to be a Hoya

I think his floor is Tariq Owens. Ceiling may be Deke-lite. Just learn how to consistently make the shots from 6 feet in, and go from there.
Depending on his physical maturity and his offensive improvement, he could be a good one. He's also a smart kid - which usually helps.
I'm on board. Especially w/ Yurt penciled in for '19-'20, and the possibility of other bigs in his class. He'll have time to grow.

I have no insider info, but I wouldn't be shocked to see a commitment soon from Malcolm. It is clear that he is a priority for the staff and the interest is definitely mutual. He would be a phenomenal start to the 19 class. I wouldn't say phenomenal but he'd be a nice get.. He needs a lot of work on the offensive end imo.. maybe Coach Ewing if he wants to play more PnR wants a rim running big who can get up to finish lobs from Akinjo and Mac.

Reminds me of Macklin a bit. Raw, but super athletic.

I beg to differ. He was pretty raw on offense.

I beg to differ. He was pretty raw on offense. Check out his Rivals recruiting page, there are a number of articles in there describing him as a player.. Many of the write ups are by Hoya Ron.. Folks wouldn't have been so disappointed in Sims if they thought Gtown was getting a raw player..

I always thought Sims was raw in his first 2 yrs at Gtown. Lot better his junior and senior yrs.

Henry was the same player from HS Sr to college Jr. If Henry had taken bball seriously when he first entered college we would have been a force his sophomore year....we probably survive AFree getting ill....🤔

The former coach has to shoulder some blame too.. Either way Sims is not a good comparison for Wilson at this stage of his career, the T. Owens comp is much better imo..

Even when Henry and his own mother endorsed that theory?

I will take one Tariq Owens clone in every recruiting class for perpetuity, please.

Even when Henry and his own mother endorsed that theory? Honestly what else was he going to say when asked about his turnaround? He took responsibility and that's good on him but the fact that his jump in production came after a role\position change should be acknowledged imo..

To those commenting that Wilson is raw offensively, I'd just say... of course he is! If he had the same size, mobility and defensive instincts that he has now with an even moderately polished offensive game he'd be a unanimous five star top 25 recruit with offers to all the blue bloods. The fact that his offense lags his defensive right now is probably the only reason we're well positioned. Maybe some of you believe that coming off of our recent recruiting successes we should be able to land 5 star types in the 2019 class, but given our lack of on-court success and our failure to put anybody in the NBA post-Otto, I'm not quite there yet. If we have a strong season and make the tournament this year we may have that kind of momentum this time next year.
Wilson to me is like clay for Ewing and staff to mold into a high level college player. Sure there are gaps right now, but he has the things you can't teach (size, athleticism, instincts) and the things he's lacking (post moves, face up game, etc.) are things he can be taught from an elite big man coach. For that reason I think his ceiling is really high. And I don't think you really evaluate him by taking his high school stats and dropping that into the Big East, you have to project his natural tools 2.5 years down the road, after another year of high school and a year of being coached by Patrick and playing against Yurtseven every day in practice. A lot of bigger guys have longer developmental curves than guards, and sometimes when it starts to click it's a thing of beauty (we saw this with guys like Hibbert and Sims). Watching Wilson's interviews, it seems pretty clear that he is a soft-spoken, down-to-earth kind of guy who is really just starting to wrap his mind around his athletic abilities. He seems to me like a guy who has a really bright future if he's put in a good position to develop himself, and I honestly think that we'd be that.
