I think this is the best debut at Kenner I've seen by two Hoyas since Allen Iverson walked in the gym...and they won. Mac really turned it up in the second half and did all the exciting stuff we hoped for. They will make each other better. Enough said!!

I've read all the updates about James and Mac and it is exciting, I'm excited. For anyone at the game now tell us about Trey and his 22 and overall. I was unable to make it.

Jessie had 12 at halftime and I think finished with around 23, including two threes. Kaleb may have scored more than any Hoya today.

It's hard to watch that and not get too excited. Love how they both pass so easily and play within a team framework well even at Kenner. I've said it before and I think it bears repeating -- Mac's elevation on his jump shot -- the fact that he gets so much legs into his shot, bodes extremely well for him as a shooter.
Looks like Trey finished a lot of shots, but was disappointed in his defensive effort/quickness.
Who was #20 on the Tombs?

I'll try to answer some of the unanswered questions that were asked about today's game. Trey Mourning hit a couple of 3's and got a lot of layups/dunks from Anthony Cowan. Cowan played pretty well, even though Akinjo probably got the better of him today. It will be interesting to see the stats for Cowan and Akinjo. Darren McClinton All-Stars also had James Madison rising sophomore Matt Lewis(he may have been the conference's rookie of the year as a freshman this past season), so Akinjo was having his way with TWO very good college guards.
Akinjo and McClung didn't have any big name teammates(Will Jenkins- Virginia Union/ William Vedder - Virginia State/ Demonte Ojinnaka - graduated from Indiana State this past season/ Lou Bell - Maryland Eastern-Shore grad, and they had a prep player named Josiah who attends Springfield Commonwealth Academy), so Akinjo and McClung should be featured/get a lot of minutes in every game. Former Hoya great Charles Smith is coaching Tombs(former Hoya Charles Harrison is one of the coaches for Clyde's_. Akinjo was outstanding today as everyone said, the only negative for McClung is he missed most of his jump shots, but that may have just been 1st game jitters, I wouldn't be concerned about that because McClung showed ALL of the ability/playmaking/athleticism today against very good college players that we've seen in his viral social media highlights.
Rodney Pryor was playing for On Point, along with Howard's 2 leading scorers Charles Williams and R.J.Cole, so it may be hard for Jesse to really stand out, but he's already a proven player, Muresan barely played. Keldon Johnson is also playing with a lot of talented guys, so his opportunity and production will vary from game to game.

I saw it from jump to final buzzer and there’s no question Akinjo outplayed Cowan. Mac didn’t disappoint but Akinjo wowed me on more than a few occasions. Been a minute (Otto?) since I was that impressed with a freshman’s KL debut. His mentality is what you can tell Coach Pat wants out of his point guard. Jabril-esque in his approach. Zero chance he’s not given the keys.

Interesting to see how the point guard position will shake out. Seems like both Akinjo and Mac are capable.
