And to add to Russky's great commentary on the game there were other positive happenings for Georgetown yesterday. Florida State took down UNC, who I honestly thought would be the #1 seed after going through the ACC undefeated. Also Penn State and Minnesota tied at 0-0. So things are looking up for our Hoyas after the bad hand we were dealt for last year's NCAA tourney. Fingers crossed.

So things are looking up for our Hoyas after the bad hand we were dealt for last year's NCAA tourney. Fingers crossed. UNC is apparently missing a bunch of players to injury, some permanently. On the other side of the country, USC - who was also ahead of us in RPI - suffered their second loss of the year at the hands of UCLA. Whereas there's some concern that Florida State might leapfrog us in RPI with their win over UNC, UCLA definitely will not. We still might not overtake USC, but it can't hurt to have out there in the committee's minds that we are one of only two unbeatens, and then after that there are no one-loss teams left. Results wise, we are a cut above.

So topdrawer soccer has their rankings out with an article about this afternoons seedings.
"On the other side of the country, No. 2 Georgetown won the Big East tournament sweeping past Xavier and Butler in the semifinals and final respectively. The 2016 College Cup side features the second best defensive record in the country and should get a No. 1 seed (one of four) in the tournament when the bracket is announced later today."
Here's hoping they are right.

#1 seed, opening up against Central Connecticut State (Northeast Conference auto-qualifier). Second-round game would be against Washington State-Montana winner. Full field: www.ncaa.com/brackets/soccer-women/d1/2018

Congratulations on earning the first ever #1 seed in school history! Well deserved. I think we were all a little gun shy with regards of the committee and were expecting to not get the 1 seed, but here it is.

Well at first I thought we drew a toughie, but we must remember that the top 4 teams in each bracket of 16 are very, very good. So how did we really do?
Well, we aren't in Stanfurd's bracket and Stanfurd is Stanfurd. As Coach Dave sez "We are the worst undefeated team in Division 1?' and he may be right. But nicely, we would not even see Stanfurd until the College Cup, and the finals at that.
The other bracket on the Tree's side has Florida State, WVU, U$C and South Carolina.....No prize there for an easy draw.
On the other side of our bracket is UNC, UCLA, Santa Clara, and Texas...
So I guess looking at Baylor, Virginia and Duke is not the end of the world...
And then as noted above all games at Shaw, and one at a time...Stepping ahead, do not be fooled by Washington State. Being a Pac 12 alum, the Cougars have not been Couging it in womens soccer this year. They have played the likes of Stanfurd, USC, and UCLA very tough.
One game at a time..CCSU first...They have a great record but one blemish was a tie with Seton Hall, the #10 Big East team. Their scoring comes from #10 Danielle Pearson (10 goals), and #14 Charlotte Maruer (8 goals). No other player with more than 3 goals. They also open a new soccer facility in 2012 with state of the art "turf".
Welcome to Shaw Field, friendly confines of the Hoyas.

Is it a total coincidence that we are playing the same opponent as the men's basketball team tomorrow??
Win and advance Hoyas!

Is it a total coincidence that we are playing the same opponent as the men's basketball team tomorrow?? Win and advance Hoyas! One does wonder if someone at the NCAA had a sense of humor... or just wanted to let the CCSU athletics staff get to 'enjoy' a double-header in the nation's capital. Wazzu plastered Montana, 5-1, so the Hoyas will play host to the Coug should they advance.

1-0 CCSU at half. Scramble in front of net after corner and a few missed clears. Hoyas have had the better of it and three or four very good chances. They are clearly the better team and have had most of the possession, but they aren't completely dominating.

2-1. Initial save on Farrell and Carolan buried the rebound. Looking like we should now.

3-1. Farrell tripped in box. Carusa hits post on PK but rebound right back to her and buries it.
