I like having Mac drive to kick out for a corner three. James should do this as well. Now we just need someone to hit the corner three at a high clip. 🤪

Boy was he huge late in that second half. That pull-up jumper was money and a very hard shot. If he can make that with any regularity- LOOK OUT.

Good luck to Mac and James and the boys tonight - we're gonna need everything they got to get past the Hall. I think we will do it!

I hope Mac takes 500 3pt shots a day this offseason. If he can improve from 29 to 35 percent from long range he will be dangerous.

Yeah, I thought he needed to be around 33% his frosh year and then climb from there. If he can work on that aspect hard and come back as a decent three shooter, that opens up things for his real meat and potatoes (the penetration) and also gives the entire team a more well-rounded dimension.

Too often caught out of position or late to recognize his responsibilities. Still a very good year for a 3* kid who did not play in a quality league in high school.

He is a much better defender now than he was at the beginning of the year and has stated he’s had to work really hard to get better at it.

Watching the BET and other tournament games highlights how important Mac is to this team. Yes he needs to improve his 3 point shooting but the one thing he brings to this team is his ability to go to the hoop. Yes he gets stuffed and sometime puts up bad shots but he also upsets opposing defenses and draws tons of fouls. Anyone have a metric on that? We underestimate Mac's value in this regard. Besides working on his 3 point shot he needs to work on finishing when he goes to the hoop and dishing to open wings when he is double teamed.

Don't know about fouls drawn, but he's third on the team in free throw attempts per game, which gives you some sense of it. Behind James. And then Jessie. Of course....those three also were 1, 2, 3 in minutes played (in the same order), so you'd expect some correlation just to that.

I think Mac needs to improve his shot selection and by doing that he'll improve his 3pt %.....he still takes shots at times as if he's still at Gate City.....he needs to learn that the "heat check" shot comes after the heat....lol

Shooting and defense ought to be the main focus this off-season for him, everybody knows his D isn't where it needs to be yet and he's too streaky to be a consistent threat from deep. I hope he works on his pull-up game too, that looks like it could be a great change of pace weapon in his game. I'd also like to see him tighten up his handle to open up more driving options - he mainly just beats people with his first step, and ideally he'd have some more diversity in his dribble game - but that would be gravy if he improves on the other stuff. Mac McClung with what he's shown so far, plus shooting 37-38% on threes and playing above average defense, would be one hell of a player next season. Adding in a better handle would be icing on the cake.

When he is on, he is unstoppable. Needs to be consistent from three. Hot and cold right now.

Mac needs to become a consistent shooter and work on his defense. Quick first step and great finisher. Too hot and cold from three. Sky is the limit.

McClung absolutely had a promising first season. He adds energy, intensity and commitment to a program in need of all three. That said, it is critical that he work on his outside shot and his defense next year. You simply cannot have the player who takes the most 3 pt shots on the team with an accuracy of only 28%--second worst on the team behind only Mourning--who should never have been taking the 3 in the first place.
I know that Akinjo is the point guard on this team who will primarily bring the ball up court, but actually he consistently struggled to get his shot off inside the perimeter, unlike McClung, while shooting a far better percentage (39%) than McClung from deep. Maybe their roles should have flipped.

Mac's ability to get into the lane and FINISH is much harder to learn than outside shooting. I don't think its unrealistic to expect him to be a much better shooter next season. At that point he will be a big time scorer. I also think he improved defensively near the end of the season..but he's obviously still got a way to go in that area.
