This will be held at Texas A&M March 9, 10. No Georgetown women will be there (although the women are the all time leading scorers in the DMR at the NCAA meet). The men will be represented by Amos Bartelsmeyer in the mile and the DMR team. Jon Green was the first man out in the 5000m by 0.09 s. Maybe if there is a scratch, Jon will get in, but as of now he is looking in.

The men were supposed to run in the IC4A meet in Boston. Several of the Hoyas were on the heat sheets, but none of them ran. Probably due to the bad weather conditions they did not go to Boston. The women are supposed to run in the ECAC meet at the same venue. Let's see if any show up. I guess the whole team passed on these meets.

That's just agonizing for Jon. And he tried to go for it at Big East, there just wasn't the competition to push him. Hope the poor kid gets back for outdoors.

Yes, I felt so sorry for Jon. Athlete of the meet at Big East with a meet record, but yes, no competition. Almost a time trial for him. If he did get into the NCAA, I bet he wouldn't finish 16th!

There is one female Georgetown grad in the NCAA indoor champs. That is Sabrina Southerland, who is running her graduate year for Oregon. She is entered in the 800m.

For the mile the first four of each heat get moved to the final plus the next two fastest times. Unfortunately, Amos had the 7th fastest time overall, but he was also 7th in his heat, so he does not move on.

Another heartbreaker for a Hoya runner. I wonder if he might now come back for the DMR?

The Hoyas DMR finished 11th out of 12, but they beat the favorite team New Mexico. Amos ran the 1200m leg, got bumped around and tired at the last lap. The milers, who ran the prelims in the mile three hours before did not fare so well. NM was favored because of their miler, who faded very badly. He is favored to take the mile tomorrow.

I think Spencer Brown ran the mile for us and Rey Rivera the 800m. Ken Rowe might have run the 400m leg.

Hopefully team will have better luck in outdoors. Having Joe White running should certainly help. I would think this is the first time in many years that neither the men nor women scored at the NCAA indoor meet.

Yes, quite a down year after last year for the men and the years before for the women.
One Hoya is in the finals today, although not running for Georgetown. Sabrina Southerland, running for Oregon, made it into the finals in the 800m. So if she doesn't fall, a Hoya grad will score a point at the meet.

Georgetown grad Sabrina Southerland won the NCAA 800m race. In the process Sabrina got a PR.

Congrats to Sabrina. I think she's the second hoya woman to win natl championship after leaving to do 5th yr at Oregon. Sam Nadel I think did win an NCAA XC champ at Oregon as well. Certainly still root for ex Hoya as grad student elsewhere. I guess it's a mixed blessing for our program--obviously athletes are having more success elsewhere and not sticking around anymore for 5th yr, so we are only really getting 3yrs out of some top recruits. On the other hand its pretty good from athlete perspective to be able to do get gown degree/experience and do a a 5th yr at a place like Oregon or Stanford(as some have done) and be successful-so maybe its good for recruiting. Not really sure what the impact on Gtwn is but definitely seems to be a trend.

And Sam Nadel had petitioned for a 6th year and will run at Oregon this outdoor season.

watched video--great race by Sabrina--at Gtwn she always seemed to go out too hard and fade--she ran very smartly and torched elite field. Hope she continues to do well. i would be interesting to know how Sabrina and Samantha compare their experiences at Gtwn vs Oregon. I think Samantha btw is the only athlete to win XC title at two schools as I think she was also on Gtwn's women's NCAA winning squad several years ago--
