FWIW, Jalek Felton PG withdrew from UNC yesterday and Jerry Meyer popped his crystal ball for Hagans to UNC. I hope we go after Felton if Hagans decides to go to UNC. If the rumors are true, no way.

Agreed, just seems too much baggage for Patrick to consider him.

Speaking of UNC.....Seventh Woods has pretty much been invisible there. Remember when we were drooling for him?

It was his high school coach who said that hagans is going to reclassify but then after the visit of college teams vs montgomery, his coach mentioned that he is no longer going to reclassify and that he is open to join Georgia again?
I am sorry for getting impatient but the longer it takes we should find that pg that we need instead of waiting for this kid, we can wait for 2019 if he goes here great but lets focus on what we need right now

Just don't see why anyone thinks there is a problem here.

2019 is far away. We need another guard for ‘18 that can handle the ball. Completely agree with that. If he is going to stay in the class of 2019 then keep recruiting him hard and hopefully it works out, but the Hoyas need to fill that point guard position for next year with a capable ball handler/floor general. There should be plenty of scholarships available in 2019 if he is interested and as talented as he is I doubt he would be concerned about competing for playing time!!! Been said this ish.

We know, although there was the suggestion he might reclassify. My point was that I could not understand those who said we should stop "wasting our time" recruiting Hagan and instead focus on local PG's from '18. Of course we can and will recruit both.

We still have the recruits that free up after coaches move.

I never advocated ditching him in favour of 18 pg’s. But if he stays 19, it looks like he’s opening the door to every top program. Would it be worth chasing him and miss out on Harris/Morsell?

Why would "chasing" him mean missing out on the others? Did you watch the debacle today? We need a major, major infusion of talent.

Recruiting is about building relationships. Pat is in his infancy locally and has started to get involved with some good kids. Want to start ticking off the locals and chase away kids? Recruit kids and then put them on the back burner while you go after a kid who will not be coming here.

The “we aren’t good enough to compete for top recruits and if we even try no one at all will ever want us!” attitude is just...crazy. Pat is paid big bucks. He has lots of assistants. Either he can get it done (recruit 5 stars while simultaneously building a local base), or he should step aside. I hate this mentality of acting like we aren’t deserving enough so let’s settle (or else). Crap. Let’s just win. Games, recruiting battles, whatever. Or get someone who can.

What makes you think top 5 recruits want to come here? What has the program done lately to warrant this? And I never said don’t recruit him. Pick your battles. Build your program.

We spend a boatload of money on trying to be good, so we better see results at some point.

You said he won't be coming here, which means we should not be recruiting him. Again, we need multiple improvements at multiple spots. We can recruit local PG's and still go after national names.

If he intends to be an 18 recruit him. But if he wants to open up his recruitment as a 19 student athlete, I feel resources would be better spent focusing on the local top talent. Again, we have seen zero proof he’d be receptive playing for the Hoyas. Whereas DMV kids are interested. Let’s not look too far past them.

And, as far as that goes, I think "program" needs to be larger than basketball. I know that the exceptional players (read one and done) won't give a rip. But I think there's room to differentiate your school by "catering" to players by having an elite rep in player development and student support. I realize that that's a very old idea but it worked in the past with guys like Patrick and now we have Patrick as the coach. Who better to breathe some fresh life into that? Also, college isn't what it used to be for typical students. Guys that don't end up making a living playing professional ball need to be positioned for graduate degrees. Putting guys in the league is great and, hopefully, we can continue to do that. But with Jon Wallace on staff, I'd love to see us pushing even harder the education component and that the undergrad degree isn't security. It's a great starting point. I realize that that's not what elite players are going to care about but it may be valuable to other guys that are a bit under the radar and attractive to parents of kids that aren't locks for ball at the next level.
