Great for Amos. Do you know if the German agency allowing athletes to chase the Worlds Standard after the national meet? No, I don't. I was wondering if they would be able to send the winner of the finals, even if he does not have the standard. I can't imagine a country like Germany without an entrant in the 1500m. I haven't had the time or patience to parse the new IAAF qualifying regs in any great detail, but it seems like there are certain other qualifying opportunities outside of the time standards. I believe Lopez Lomong was eligible to run the 10K at Worlds based on his win in the event at USATF last summer, before he ran his 27:30 to win this year's meet. As you said, it's possible Amos may be eligible based upon his winning a national championship for a country like Germany.

Amos can still chase the standard. He will run a 1500m in Birmingham to try to get that 3:36.0 standard.

Rachel did the Fleet Feet Liberty mile in Pittsburgh and came in 4th in 4:36, a time finishers 2-4 shared. The winner was at 4:34. Rachel was running 1 or 2 all race except at the end. The first half was against the wind, so she probably sacrificed herself by being in front.

The lineup for the Birmingham 1500m this weekend. Crowded field for a 1500 with 19 runners. I assume a couple will be pacemakers. Not a particularly fast field except for three of the runners, with 12-13 runners going for the Worlds standard of 3:36.

Unfortunately: 17
GER
BARTELSMEYER Amos 3:47.32 Since there were 19 in the race with two rabbits, Amos came in last. I wonder, if with that many in the race, he fell. The time was not particularly fast with only four runners under 3:36.

Doesn't look as if Amos fell. The pace was fast at 1:53 for 800m, so I think that hurt Amos. However, with the fast pace the winning time of 3:35 is a little slow.

Thanks, Nevada. I had been hoping to find a video to better understand how the race went.

I still don't know what happened to Amos. He looked reasonable at the bell lap but with the video concentrating on the leaders Amos was lost in the pack. I would like to see some splits.

Meanwhile, over in Cork, Ireland, Katrina set a nice PR and a win in the women's 3000m:
3000: 1. Katrina Coogan (US) 9:01.42 PR;… 4. Helen Schlachtenhaufen (US) 9:13.27 PR.

Still not sure of Amos' status concerning the World Championships in Doha, which start in about three weeks. He hasn't appeared in any results since Birmingham. Since he was last in that race, I am wondering if he had some injury. There have been a couple of meets in which he could have possibly gone for the standard. There may be a back door into the Worlds based on world standings. It may be that the organizers are looking for the top 45 times (subtracting those 4th or 5th place runners from countries that have their top three or four ((some countries are allowed wild card entries)).

Amos was one of the rabbits in this 5000m race (time trial) to achieve the Olympic standard of 13:13. Woody Kincaid, University of Portland grad, ran the 5th fastest US time in history. It looks as if Amos signed up with Nike.
