Emily Infeld had surgery in December to repair a torn labrum and alleviate a build-up of bone on her hip socket and femur head. She may resume running in March but competition is unlikely this year.

Not an alum, but son of a famous Hoya track and field great, John Gregorek.
2 Gregorek, Johnny Njny Hoka One One 3:49.98 29.88 (29.88) 58.65 (28.77) 1:27.63 (28.99) 1:56.61 (28.99) 2:25.87 (29.26) 2:54.29 (28.43) 3:22.90 (28.61) 3:49.98 (27.08)
Yomif Kejelcha Runs 3:47.01 Mile World Record as Johnny Gregorek Is Seventh American to Go Sub-3:50
On the track behind him at the finish, another runner was jumping up and down hugging those around him and it was American Johnny Gregorek, who had the fastest last lap in the field, blitzing a 27.08 to run 3:49.98 in the mile, becoming the second-fastest American ever indoors, and just the seventh American ever under 3:50 in the mile.
Quick Take: Johnny Gregorek becomes 7th American to break 3:50, misses indoor AR by .09
Gregorek was already an accomplished miler before today, with a personal best of 3:53.15 and an appearance in the 2017 World Championship final. But today’s run elevated him into even more elite company. His 3:49.98 was just .09 off Bernard Lagat‘s American indoor record and makes him just the seventh American ever under 3:50, indoors or out. More importantly, Gregorek joked, he now owns the family mile record: his father John, who was in attendance today, owns a personal best of 3:51.34 from 1982. 2019 is already shaping up as some year for Gregorek, as he got married in January, his beloved New England Patriots won the Super Bowl in February, and he joined the sub-3:50 club in March.

Two women from the Georgetown program ran the National 15K race and they both finished in the top 10:
1. 84 Erika Kemp Brookline MA 50:54 2. 4 Bethany Sachtleben Fairfax VA 51:08 3. 30 Maggie Montoya Boulder CO 51:23 4. 48 Kate Landau Tacoma WA 51:35 5. 6 Bridget Belyeu Fairburn GA 51:40 6. 90 Rachel Schneider Johnson City TN 51:40 7. 58 Bria Wetsch Broomfield CO 51:50 8. 8 Katy Jermann Burnsville MN 52:20 9. 88 Alia Gray Boulder CO 52:27 10. 26 Shalaya Kipp Vancouver BC 53:01
Rachel ran this race as essentially a training run, being used to shorter distances. But Kate Landau, who just was inducted in the Georgetown Hall of Fame, is 41 or 42 years old. She is the best master women in the country, having overcome significant health issues over the years. She will run in the Boston Marathon this April.

Kate Landau continues to amaze as she was 13th overall and top 5 Americans at the Boston Marathon with a 2:31.56 time. She is quickly becoming a contender at the Olympic Trials next year. All of this at 41 or 42 years of age.

Sabrina had run the 800 in the USATF Distance Classic in Passadena. Unfortunately, she wasn't competitive last night (a fall perhaps). However, another GU grad did extremely well in the women's 5000m. Rachel Schneider won with a PR, a world championship qualifier, and a world leading mark!!! www.usatf.org/News/Schneider-s-personal-best,-Worlds-qualifying-mark-.aspx A big congratulations to Rachel. And Rachel became the first American woman to run a qualifying time in the 5000m for the 2020 Olympics!

Rachel starting to get some love:
Rachel Schneider Get The Olympic Standard “[The pacemaking] was perfect, I can’t miss out on this opportunity. So, every 5k I’ve run up to this point was super conservative, so I wanted to do the opposite, go out aggressive. If I blow up, I blow up. It was really great that they paced it so smooth and so even, exactly what they said. I figured I could kick off of that and try to get the Olympic standard.”
-American Rachel Schneider of Under Armour talking to Race Results Weekly after hitting the Olympic 5000 standard of 15:10 by running 15:06.71 to win the 2019 USATF Distance Classic last week in LA. Since Schneider already had the 2019 World standard, she went for it and was rewarded with a big pb (previous pb of 15:15.88).
Not bad for someone who had a college 5000 pb of 16:23.97 at Georgetown, never finished higher than 69th at NCAA cross country, and never scored at NCAAs in track.
Now, that last sentence is a little misleading and purposely written to play up her “rags to riches” storyline. Everything we wrote about Schneider is true, but Schneider was a pretty good runner in college. She managed to make NCAAs all eight seasons in track (running the DMR all four years indoors in addition to finishing 9th in the mile once), and the 1500 all four years outdoors (three prelim eliminations and one 9th-place showing) and ran 4:10.53, although that came when she was redshirting. The fastest she ever ran during a collegiate season was 4:16.15.
Regardless, she had to make ends meet her first year out with a combination of tutoring, working at a running store, dog-sitting, and babysitting. She still trains under Michael Smith (her former coach at Georgetown, now at NAU), but instead of being based in DC, they are in Flagstaff as part of Team Run Flagstaff.

On a beautiful, sunny Saturday evening, Amos Bartelsmeyer of Seattle put away a deep elite field with a late surge on the downtown point-to-point course, clocking an official time of 3 minutes, 52 seconds (converted from 3:51.76), an effort that doubled his winnings to $10,000 for bettering the state record. Tripp Hurt from Boulder, Colorado was runner-up in 3:53. Overall, six men went under 4 minutes, the Mile's benchmark standard.
The 24-year-old Bartelsmeyer, who competes for Germany and finished sixth at the 2019 European Indoor Track Championships in the 3000 meters, graduated from Georgetown and is a volunteer assistant coach for the University of Washington while training under head UW coach Andy Powell.

Amos is running in the German national meet trying to secure a spot on the world championship team. Before that he has to try to get a championship standard time. The time in the 1500 (mile) is 3:36.00 (3:53.10).
