You are leaving out one of the best known nicknames in the country for the area just south of SF, Silicon Valley. City by the Bay OR, since you are CambridgeHoya, maybe you should step that up to PaloAltoHoya! Berkeley Hoya would probably be too much for you.
And you'll be trading Boston Baked Beans for "The Wine Country".
Seafood is better in Boston and environs... at least when you are not having a "red tide"! But I am sure you'll develop a taste for Bean Sprouts, Jack Cheese, Avocado, Chardonay and Pinot.

I like "LastActionHoya." No one would ever think of you as a "girlie poster."

Hmmmm. I'm kind of blanking. Other than "The City," "San Fran," "SF," "City by the Bay," I can't think of a whole lot that applies to the whole city. Lots of neighborhood names, of course.
Oakland is Oaktown, and Oakland, Berkeley and the surrounding suburbs are referred to as the East Bay (imaginative, huh?). San Jose is South Bay. The suburbs directly south of SF are the Peninsula and north Marin.
There are a bunch on the web -- I have never heard anyone use "Shaky Town" or "The City of Complications."

How about SourDoughBoy?
(Ok, that was kinda lame)
Or you can just wait to see which neighborhood you live in SF and then go from there...

Is it really a realistic goal for Cambridge to select a new nickname in 2005/2006?
I mean, you've got your market research, focus groups, polling data, formal debate, and any number of other things to consider.
Sure, I mean, that's something to shoot for in the next couple of years, but let's focus on what we can accomplish this year.
(I vote for NuclearWesselsHoya, in honor of Mr. Chekov).

As a former resident of Marin County, how about the moniker GoldenGateHoya? Or has that already been suggested?

We're inching closer to NoUseForANameHoya.
No matter what you decide, I say you take the top five and put up a poll on the page and let us vote. Make it interactive.
I still like WeirdBrotherOfPrimeRibHoya

There's really no avoiding it. I was a strictly hard alcohol and beer guy in college; now I have a 40-bottle "cellar."

Don't worry about it Buffalo...my encounters with theway are so ubiquitous that it seems I have quite literally gotten inside his head. I appologize, as it seems it has driven him even further toward madness. Goals are what you strive for...should be a best case scenario. Expectations are the minimal achievements you can reasonably expect. I say BE championship, 20+ wins, 5 seed, sweet sixteen...those are my goals. 18+ wins, BET semis, NCAA bubble...are my expectations. Hey Cambridge - Join the club - YB and I have a time-share in his head.

Ahhhhh, I love talking about the Bay Area, and California in general. And SFHoya99, you're right on about San Fran (I can say that because I don't live in the Bay Area all the time anymore). Only non-Bay Area people call it that or Frisco. I live 45 min away, near San Jose, but if I'm ever going to SF, I'll say I'm going to "The City." Cambridge, good luck on finding a name. There's always the Nodak-inspired Cali Hoya, has that been taken already? You might want to grab that name if it's still available.
