Must-win game.
I hope we win this game. Historically, losing to bad St. John's teams has caused severe meltdowns for hoyatalk.

This is a winnable game for us. I want to see Ewing get the team to regroup and grab his first home Big East win as a head coach. Games like Villanova I don't expect to win with the personnel we have. But we can beat St. John's. Go get it done.

Dare I say it, for the first time in a dozen conference games...we might be favored!

I’d let Blair play 25-30 minutes a game. He has a chance to be a big time scorer and does it really matter how many games we win this year anyway?

I know that we just suffered a beatdown unlike any that the fanbase is used to but "winnable game". We just beat this team in there gym. By definition it is in the "should win" category....

I wonder what Coach Ewing whispered into Wright's ear before and after the game. Hmmmm... "don't beat us too bad with those killer guards u have?" I'm just guessing LOL!

St. John's coming in here licking their chops at this game. They played NOVA well over the weekend.

As for Blair - I think maybe Patrick started Pickett because the bench was so non-productive last game that he hoped Blair could inject some "instant offense" when he came in.

Definitely not a good look going into a game vs. #1 team in America imo...

Must-win game. I hope we win this game. Historically, losing to bad St. John's teams has caused severe meltdowns for hoyatalk. This loss to an 0-10 BE record St John's squad with 4 scholarship players was the worst of those losses. Would like to see an archive of Hoyatalk on 2/19/2004. www.nytimes.com/2004/02/19/sports/college-basketball-glory-days-are-memory-for-hoyas-and-red-storm.html"With its basketball program in shambles, its reputation in tatters after a strip-club jaunt gone wild, the Red Storm produced perhaps its biggest upset of a season littered with lows. Still undermanned, St. John's beat a woeful Georgetown team, 65-58, last night at Madison Square Garden, proving that for at least one night there was a basketball team in the country worse than St. John's."

St. John's coming in here licking their chops at this game. They played NOVA well over the weekend. And they also played Xavier tough in Cincinnati tonight, losing by only six points. They may be 0-7 in conference play, but they're playing much better than we are going into the weekend matchup.

My first (and perhaps only) goal this year is not to finish last in the Big East. We've got St. John's and DePaul coming up at home. This is March Madness for me. Got to find some way to win these, and you can build from there.

The scary part for me is that we’ve played worse at home than on the road. Against Creighton and Nova we have looked tight and tentative. Missing open shots and telegraphing passes.
We don’t have a home court advantage and once we start missing shots the air just comes out of the building.

Yes sir. You're right. Absolutely right. There is no way St. John's comes in feeling like an underdog. If the Hoyas cannot find a way to score this can get ugly. Cannot expect the Redmen to shoot as poorly as they did in the last game against the Hoyas. Blair, the one guard willing to shoot from deep, is actually shooting the 3pt shot at a worse percentage (30%) than anyone on the team, other than Dickerson. Pickett, also a gunner from deep, is just as bad (31%). It's a shame that Mosley (38%)and Mulmore (45%) back off that shot so much. It makes it easier for the defense to pack it in and guard the bigs. Even if they took the shot and missed it might at least force the defense to extend. I cannot recall any Hoya team that was this bad at shooting from the perimeter.
