Has there been even a hint of indication that Marcus himself was bothered or at all upset about what happened? When there is, I will worry about all of this. Who's to say there wasn't hmmmm... teammates, some fans, recruits. Casualhoya arrives once again. Humiliation is humiliation Patrick Ewing or not. No disrespect. But everyone has their opinions. I respect. Glide, I wasn't suggesting that Marcus was not bothered - I have not seen anything either way.

But you are right - on to Creighton, let's make it a conference winning streak!
Coach Ewing is rookie coach especially in the Big East. He cannot continue to humiliate his players like this period.
[ Glide, you have straight lost your mind.Trophies and hugs for everyone!

If Ewing was yelling at Blair or Picket, maybe the word embarrass could be used. He was yelling at Derrickson, who was our best player to that point and played most of the game. Much more similar to Geno Auriemma's coaching style than say a Bobby Knight. I didn't write Coach Ewing embarrassed anyone. I only mentioned sometimes when you embarrass young people on Nat'l tv, sometimes those results can be damaging. Yes, coaches yell at their best players' simply because they know they can do better. If Patrick didn't care he wouldn't do what he did with Marcus. You have gone 180 on how you started this thread. He didn't even raise his voice at Derrickson. I've seen u10 soccer teams get stronger reprimands than that. There is nothing for Derrickson to even be embarrassed about.

This is all so silly. Nobody here has any information aside from what we saw on television for what - 5 to 10 seconds? As others have said, Ewing has clearly gotten on other guys this year, the only difference is he was on camera. I don’t care who knows Derrickson’s sister or dad or who coached what. The only people who know more about what happened are Ewing, Derrickson, and maybe some staff / team members. Ewing has dealt with players and fragile NBA egos for years so I’m not going to question him now based on a few seconds of video. I would add multiple coaching styles have been successful so to say one approach is the only one is misguided.
It’s a fair topic for discussion, but ultimately, aside from commenting on what we saw in a few seconds of video, nobody knows the dynamic, what happened after, Derrickson’s personality, etc. I get that people can look at it differently, though.
Like most everything these days, it might be “viral” now and in a few days nobody will care.

No one in the nation even know who Derrickson is. People couldn't point him out of a lineup of the Last Jedi cast. And the main clip that has gone viral is the one with Ewing's exasperated questioning that doesn't focus on anything other than Ewing's face and doesn't include the followup clip of Derrickson taking the shot. So, no, there is no national finger-pointing being directed at Derrickson. And the sports nation is too invested in college and pro football and even the NBA to care too much about a game between two unranked teams that was broadcast on FS1. The only "Hoya" the nation knows or even cares about right now is Mac McClung who isn't even on the team yet.

That’s as good a spot as any to conclude this thread.
