Why is his kid a bigger risk than many others we took a gamble on in the past, some of whom worked out and some didn't. Take him. Bigger areas of need?

He's going to come here I think. He doesn't have time for other visits.

Tucker is originally from Westchester County NY and played his first two years at White Plains, NY and then later Archbishop Stepinac before transfrerring away. A few summaries from the local scene: a) There was alot of confusion as to why he picked Duke. This is a kid who wants to play and Duke was stacked and he wasn't going to want to sit completely. And have no idea why Duke would take a kid who was going to be unhappy given they didn't have the time now and they roll in top 10 players every year. b) He has serious offensive talent - inside, outside, rebounder, he has great size for a wing. The skills are there. Before Duke he was offered by Syracuse - word was he was going there if not Duke - and Indiana and Villanova were in the mix as well. He would likely have played quickly at schools like IU and Syracuse hence the confusion. c) Questions about attitude, effort and ability to take direction. I once saw a high school game where he took shots on 17 of his team's first 18 possessions and there was repeated questions about the defensive end. There is no doubt in my mind he would fit in talent wise at Georgetown and has the versatile game required of today's style - his ball handling is much better than our current freshman "3"s and he can defend bigger players and board better and hit from three. The "how fast will Tucker transfer" talk started the moment he committed to Duke. This is no surprise and not a commentary on his ability to play basketball at a high level. On the surface of it, I give everyone involved credit for pulling that plug quickly. If Ewing thinks he can fit in offensively - and Ewing's televised commentary to Derrickson in the huddle is a pretty clear indicator that everyone knows what they are getting when they come here - this could work well. Talent, size, need - no issue. It's the rest- the fit part - that would be the question. Talent wise I think he is a great get for the Hoyas if he comes to Georgetown. Great post!

We still have more scholarships. A true center to backfill Govan's eventual departure would be nice. Maybe a pure PG.

It’s insane that people are suggesting we don’t need him. He’s the type of player you take regardless of what your wishlist needs are and who plays 30 minutes a game the day he becomes eligible.
When you consider that we likely will be without Govan and/or Derrickson when Tucker arrives ....we will need more scorers. As much as I like them, Mosley and Johnson simply aren’t those guys. When you have guys however that can consistently hit the 3 in McClung, Pickett and Tucker and you combine that with Ewing’s prostyle offense....the pieces of a winning program start to come together.
I for one love this move.

Seems that each is trending up quickly under Ewing, but they are still a long ways from NBA ready--unless the goal is simply to play professionally somewhere.

Govan is ahead of MD in my view but is by no means a lock to play in the NBA. I don't think MD will play in the NBA even with an additional year with us.

I would add Blair to the three point crew. All in on Tucker.

I can't believe that people are arguing that there should be some entitlement to playing time on a team that's going to win less than 5 BE games. Right!!!

Even if Jessie and Marcus both stay, by the time Tucker is eligible next spring they would both have only one semester left. Not a consideration.

To me he's a quality prospect who'll help to deepen the roster, maybe he would play 30 minutes but that doesn't guarantee consistent productivity.. Let's be honest Tucker was beat out for the leftover minutes by Alex O'Connell(who's a good player) this season.. Hope he commits to the staff because he'll be another good prospect on the team..

Does anyone else know who the other person is who is visiting? Greak Freak = NBA’s Giannis Antetokounmpo Kostas or Alex? Would assume Alex (‘20) sa Kostas is s redshirt at Dayton unless something happened there.

There is no question the Hoyas should take him based on skill set and ability to contribute. Duke is one of those schools, that are deadly for players in the 30-60 range if they can't play early - because they will get recruited over every year by top 10 players and run the risk of never developing at all as Coach K has taken to playing a very short bench - which is why people were confused as to what he was thinking. If we had gotten this guy last Spring late for some reason the board would have been thrilled.
If Ewing likes him from a fit standpoint - and again, I love that Derrickson tape as a recruiting tool as in "Here is what you get at Georgetown" - this guy comes right out of the gate ready to play next winter. To the comments of several folks on this board, I think he'd be starting today if he was here.
