We have now showed twice we can play with mid to upper tier major conf teams. DePaul is one we should win. Latest Vegas line I saw was DePaul favored by 3.5.

I dont think we should win this game. I get where people are coming from because it is DePaul, but we should be solid underdogs. I watched most of DePaul-Xavier, and I think Roberts is going to slaughter us, much like every other decent/good guard in this conference. Strus also scored 33 points against Xavier. Wishful thinking, like I said with Marquette, is that you hope DePaul was way more up to play Xavier than they would be for us. And, yeah, DePaul is still DePaul and always seems to play dumb during big chunks of games, as they did against X.

Depaul believes that they are the better team, better-tested this year and very excited about their sudden breakout play from the kid Strus. They are just as big along the perimeter as the Hoyas. Will be very interesting to see if Ewing has made some changes to cut down on the turnovers that have plagued this team.

Right. Yeah, Im not saying we should lose because we stink or Im giving up on the season, I just think people are underestimating that DePaul is probably as good as we are.

the expectation for this team isnt fair at all and that is the same for the coach. however we almost beat a butler team that beat nova and by any means that should be a confidence booster for these kids. the game vs Marquette we look like we were freshmen but i think its more of exhaustion from the game vs Butler which came down to the wire.
I think we've learned a lot from the 2 games weve lost and i hate to say but like a miss its a good lost because its not against a team that isnt going to the dance both butler and marquette can go to the dance this year barring any injuries so we shouldn't be ashamed and all we need is to continue supporting this team through wins and L's

I saw that line, at first I was surprised, then I realized given the wins and losses of the two teams, it is basically a push on a neutral site. The teams are ranked similar on kenpom and in the RPI. Depaul's best win is Miami OH and ours is North Texas. So it makes sense, just a real blow to the ego that the Hoyas are underdogs against Depaul. That said, we can win with limited turnovers and continued all out effort. I like the up tempo pace, but if we are fortunate enough to build a decent lead in the second half, I have no issue going PG-less and playing a slow down game to get a W.

DePaul is going into this game thinking they can beat us. Maybe we can prove them wrong, but with the inconsistency in our play lately, I don't think any particular outcome is predictable.

If the expectation level is so low that we're ceding @depaul, are there any expectations whatsoever for this year? I mean basically what you're saying is that maybe we'll win 1 conference game ( gtown vs DePaul), but if you think Roberts is going to slaughter us it doesn't even seem like you expect that. I think I have the long view more than anyone and even I expect that we should beat DePaul twice. If you don't, why aren't we going full-on The Process, which I guess in college basketball would mean only assistants devoted to recruiting (no Orr) and only play the underclassmen?

If we have less than 15 turnovers we'll win. Book it.

Why wait? This year's team was never going to be an NCAA squad, so since Patrick wants to install an uptempo system, get the players used to it now, so that it is in place for next year; the guys that are returning next year can already be comfortable with it; and as more players who fit the system are brought in, everything is already in place. The old saying of "learning to crawl before you walk & walk before you run" keeps coming to mind for me.. Right now the team lacks fundamentals & discipline imo, lack of talent has little to do with either of the above attributes.. Also its not a lock these areas get better with more talent on the roster..

Maybe this is the game where everything clicks for us. I'm holding out hope we'll get more cohesive as the season goes on. Eventually the light switch has to turn on for the team.

Starting to look like we may literally have no more than a handful of winnable games left. This is one of them. Play like you are ticked off by throwing away our first two conference games. I try to take this life one day at a time, and my Hoyas hoops one game at a time.

I think this board needs to prepare itself to be resilient. Anyone expecting a successful season based on what happened over the last nine months needs to share what they have been smoking. We will lose most of the remaining games. At this point, we should just hope to see individual player development. The NCAA tournament was never on the table this year. So let’s not lose our minds every time we lose a game. Is why I mentioned to just let the young people play, play smart, hard and have some fun.

If we have less than 15 turnovers we'll win. Book it. I just hope for those turnovers to "not" be during crucial moments of the game.

The infuriating turnovers are the ones where Mulmore is out of control, driving into a crowd or just dribbling the ball off his feet. Eliminate 2 or 3 of those in each of these past 2 games and you have a different outlook going forward.

Doesn't DePaul have a new arena? That should improve their home court advantage -- they averaged about 27 people a night in the old place.
