Well, we'll start to see how they handle the frustration of losing and the grind of the conference schedule. We'll play good teams regularly and every team twice. Everyone we play will know all of our liabilities. Can we fight through it and keep improving? Or will we start to get overwhelmed? This one is a good a test to find out as any.

Marquette is a good offensive team but they are not a good defensive team. They shoot, and make, a lot of three's but I think our length will make it tough on their smallish guards if the Hoyas can find a way to fight through picks and stay close enough to contest their shooters. Also need to find away to take advantage of the size of their guards on the defensive end by posting up some of our guards/wings. Mosely, Blair and Johnson should be able to take advantage of their size difference and get some low post touches/points and hopefully put the Marquette guards into early foul trouble. Not sure Marquette will have an answer for Govan/Derrickson if we can get them the ball on the post. Marquette may have to play some zone to offset the size difference so hopefully the Hoyas are ready for that.
I would be disappointed if this is not a competitive game

I would be disappointed if this is not a competitive game After watching the team play, I really expect all but maybe the Nova and Xavier games to be competitive. We'll still lose more than we win, but I think the team will continue to play hard and I'm hoping for improvements as the season goes on.

Unless the Hoyas can defend the perimeter shooters much better than they have or suddenly get hot from outside on the other end of the court, I expect this to be a comfortable win for Marquette. Their strengths seem to match up with the Hoya's weakness on defense. Add in that this is only the second road game for the Hoyas, against a team that has already lost at home in conference, and that there be a large and always rowdy crowd and the Hoyas have a major challenge.

I'll be surprised if the Hoyas keep it within 10. Marquette's probably not a NCAA Tournament team this season, but tomorrow's game is a must-win for them and the crowd will be ready. Hoyas are 0-2 against decent competition, with both of those games coming at home. Marquette's probably about the same level as Syracuse and Butler this season, so I can't see the Hoyas winning this one on the road.

I'd play a 3-2 matchup zone on Howard, Hauser and Rousey (their names sound too much alike, but they're all pretty good 3 pt shootes)...if you limit their 3 pt shooting %, control the defensive glass and execute our offense efficiently (minimize turnovers), we have a chance...otherwise, we get slapped...can't come into this slow/sluggish...gotta want it more than they do, and refuse to lose...40 Minutes!!!

Anyone else surprised to see that Marquette is a 10 point favorite. I guess until we notch a top 50 win no one is going to repsect us, but we seem better than that. We are a bad call and a bucket away from being 12-0.

We are a bad call and a bucket away from being 12-0. As they say if you feel strongly that Vegas is wrong you have a way to show them. This line means they consider Butler and Marquette to be equals which I think is fair. I will likely end up taking the Hoyas because 10 is out of the meaningless fouls at the end of game range and Patrick has shown that he will play the starters til the end. I think he is the type that will keep guy pushing til the end even if the game is decided to make losses look better even when he should probably be resting the big minutes guys. We haven't been in that situation yet so I guess we will see.

Think this is a bad matchup for us unless Marquette really is missing a lot of shots. I guess that's why Im not surprised it's a 10 point line. These aren't games Id expect us to win, sadly. Im not sure we win a BE road game this year. That's why Butler and Syracuse hurt so much.

I will be pleasantly surprised if this game is close. It certainly could be-- Marquette is not an exceptional team. They are good, however, and we are susceptible to good shooting. Georgetown isn't great at defending hot, streaky shooters. Plus, our guards for the most part really struggle to defend. In the prediction thread, I took Marquette by 12, but I could see them winning by more. I see Marquette being able to score close to 80, maybe more, and I don't see us keeping up with that over 40 minutes. Govan and Derrickson will keep us in it for a while, but it'll take better back court play and fewer turnovers to keep it close for 40 minutes.
Our schedule and losing closely to the two major conference teams we have played has created a bit of an inflated sense of how good we are. We have a couple good players, but a lot of things have to go right for us to win against major level competition right now. I don't see everything going right today, on the road. I certainly hope I'm wrong, though.

Way to go right at Marquette, Hoyas. Do it quicker though.

Classic Mulmore and a failed block out. . . Not good.

Smh Mulmore why did he put in on the ground inside the paint. smh. Play some defense. Rousey easily took Kaleb to the basket.
