JUICE THE CUSE!!!
This team will be ready. Pat hasn't forgotten his treatment by the denizens of Lower Canada Community College. We have the shooters to challenge the zone. The effort and focus on defense will be there. This is the first true test of the season and Pat has his men ready to CRUSH THE ORANGE!!!

Students should be hype for this game and I would hope we can get a crowd of 17K to the Cap. Gotta be able to drown out the inevitable Cuse crowd which will likely be 5K of that 17K.

I will also be coming to DC for the game. It's time to see what we're made of. Have to be poised. Can't give up lots of turnovers. A lot of it is likely competition, but we've done a good job on the boards % wise. They're not a good shooting team at all. We need to box out and secure the rebound, because that's most of their offense is just getting their own misses. Since we're a running team now, we must go at Cuse. Don't let them set up their 2-3 as much as possible. If so, I hope our guards have enough heart and toughness to get inside the paint.

The biggest question will be our rotation. Clearly it will be tighter but how and who? I will be interested in who takes high post duties. MD is the obvious candidate but Jessie might be the guy sometimes as well. Short corner specialist is Kaleb. I hope he continues his success and eats them alive. I like that line up we had on Saturday Dickerson, Blair and Mosely, Jessie, Marcus.

The Hoyas will need to attack the zone, but hopefully they'll push the rock and not let Cuse set up the 2-3. Push it!

Against the Howard zone, we flashed guys to the foul line, a refreshing change from guys drifting in and out of there as before. In several instances, we executed what appeared to be almost 'timing patterns' where a big would 'cut' up from the baseline, the pass from top of the key would arrive right when the cutter did and the shot or pass to the low post would happen more or less instantly. MORE OF THIS. We can be much more effective if we maintain an aggressive pace of play against a big but not super-quick SUcker zone and MD and JG at least appear to have practiced getting off that foul line jumper very quickly. In fact, that is one of the things they have looked most consistent at this early season, almost like they practiced in for one reason or another. Since the SUcker zone hasn't changed 1% since PE played against it, not surprising that he might have some strategies for conquering it. Not one for inflated, unrealistic expectations, but 1000% hoping that the team carries whatever swagger they have earned into this game, controls the ball and sends us all an early Christmas Message card on Saturday. Smart for Coach Ewing to work on Cuse things during our last game. Ha!

If you expect a double digit win you may be in for a let down dr q. Syracuse has some issues, but they are still a solid team, and they have a guy who has proven he can coach. We are still a team that can't expect to sniff .500 in our conference, we have a lot of youth learning new systems and each other. While this game will be a good snapshot of where the team really is right now, it is not the test of everything. Agreed. This game is all part of the process. Syracuse isn't good nor bad enough to be a signal for anything else and it's still early. Of course it would be nice (ok more than nice) to beat the Orange but we did that the last two years and then proceeded to go 3-17 in Feb/March. So it's a big game but we are still only a month into Pat's tenure regardless of what happens Saturday. SIGHS!!! I'm sorry, but this game will be used as a measuring stick. Get real man. smh

It's a travesty that we can't get consistent offense out of the Mulmore-Dickerson-Mosely triumvirate. That may cap our upside this season. Have faith. Thx.

Pickett has to start stepping up. If Pat's gonna give him 25 minutes (30+ when the bench shrinks in close games), he's gotta start putting up starter's numbers. I know he's a FR, but this is what he's been promised. So far Pickett's giving us right around what LJ did his FR year, minus LJ's good 1st & last games. That wasn't good. And there are far more holes on this team. If we hadn't played 8 cupcakes to this point, I think it'd be more of an issue. Now that the real games are beginning, he needs more than just 2 or 3 "there's the upside" moments per game. What I like about Pickett most is his ability to get any shot he wants and he gets the shots easily, they just aren't falling. I believe his future is very bright but we may.... will have to wait for for his physical and mental development which is to be expected. He does have a lot of KD in his game. Pickett is a big game player. Watch what I tell ya! lol

Who is gonna be our zone buster? Who is the player that can hit the jump shot from the foul line that will put stress on their 2-3 zone? It really needs to be Marko or Kaleb. I don't think Marcus or Jessie can make the plays consistently to pull off the W but if Kaleb is on he can be the difference........ Bigs are going to have to come up to the foul line, guards dip the ball into Jessie or Marcus who will either kick it back out or turn and kick the ball into the post and go to work. Guards should be moving the ball from side to side shifting the zone and be able to "quickly" attack on the angles. Wright did a hella job of this when he broke the 2-3.

We've seen coach Ewing employ a lot of different looks to attack the zone so far this year. I've seen at least a dozen different plays or variations that he's used when we've seen zone. I think we'll be prepared. The team and the crowd will be up for the first big test of the year.
We'll juice these fools!
