When it comes to scoring the ball, there was not a better player at the Summer Jam than Whitney. The five-star had a tremendous spring but during July he's taken his game to an entirely new level. The jump shot is falling, he's trusting his ball handling more and as they say, confidence is a heck of a drug. Big time athlete, big time scorer and big time prospect. Look for him to set up a visit with Kentucky now that they are making him a priority while Illinois and Louisville look to be pretty strong with Whitney -- who will soon release a top eight. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/summer-jam-the-bossi-awards

No their not. New crystal ball says Kentucky now leads. Calipari coming on strong. Whitney goes to the same high school as groomer Kentucky guard, Isiah Briscoe.

No their not. New crystal ball says Kentucky now leads. Calipari coming on strong. Whitney goes to the same high school as groomer Kentucky guard, Isiah Briscoe. How did Briscoe's experience at Kentucky work out? Briscoe was a former "top 10" recruit who had 1 & done dreams and struggled at Kentucky for 2 years, never developing and constantly being forced to play off the ball (out of his natural PG position) before being pushed out the door, going undrafted, and needing a couple years in Euro basketball to make his way to earning a contract with the Orlando Magic this summer. Not really questioning you Blazers44. Just waiting for these kids and their families to realize the fraud that Calipari is. These high level prospects don't develop under him a lick. He's a car salesman who sells the dream to these kids. Most of these Kentucky prospects that get drafted would have made it to the Association wherever they went. Coach K (who is becoming more of a car salesman himself), Coach Wright, and Coach Izzo are way better coaches and talent developers. Calipari has mastered getting these kids and families to believe they need him to get drafted. What a farce...

I think Briscoe was a lil overrated to be honest. Had a hard time shooting the ball for the perimeter. He did just sign NBA contract with the Orlando magic so it did work out for him on in just two yrs.

And after 2 years in Kentucky, he never improved his weakness (perimeter shooting) whatsoever, and was forced to play a position that put a spot light on his biggest limitation.

Yea I agree. As much as I want Whitney on the hilltop I'm fine with losing him to Kentucky. Like it or not Kentucky puts kids in the pros. I also said that the hoyas should be recruiting in the 50-200 range of recruits. Kinda wasting your time in the top 20 of the class. Schools like duke, ku, unc and Kentucky pretty much get who they want.
Exactly why you have back up plans in placed for stuff like this. May have to move on with other players like cj felder, antavion collum, Brandon weatherspoon, quincy geurrer, etc etc...

It is not tough to put kids in the pros when your recruits are consistently ranked in the top 30 year-over-year. Kentucky’s recruits would be pros regardless of where they went to school.

I have always felt that John Calipari is either the greatest recruiter of all time, ships in lotta money under the table, or is Satan. And it might be all three. The Kentucky alumni who have been great in the NBA or who have been busts would be no different if they went to any other school. Ewing should be trying for every great recruits that he thinks he has a shot with.

Every coach probably thinks that have a shot with most of the top ranked recruits. It's a fine line if you have a legitimate shot to land a kid or not. Being that our program has been down the last few yrs, no point to spending too much time on player that's ranked #12 when you had a better shot at player #75. Both Akinjo and LeBlanc we're ranked in the 60-80 range depending on the recruiting site. I guess what I'm saying is don't lose out on the good 3/4 star players trying to go after the 5 star guy.

We have dozens of offers out for '19, so I think Patrick recognizes that we are, at best, very longshots for top 25 kids, and has plan B, plan C and plan D in place. But it may not be long before we CAN compete for the top guys. Big Pat has certainly shown that he is willing to put in the work to get us there.
