Need DePaul to pull out the win tonight to not tie the Gavitt games.

Overall the BE has played pretty well against B10 this week.
Marquette and Providence were a little limp at home against ranked teams, but no big letdowns.
I'd say the Xavier win up in Wisconsin was the best of the bunch. Minus a late second half lapse, they played really well.
Go DePaul.

I went to the Butler-MD game with my friend who coached one of the Butler guys. If not for turnovers, they would have lost by 25 to a good, but young MD team. Butler usually overachieves but I'm not sure that's happening this year. Not much outside of Martin and Baldwin in terms of scoring.
Watched Marquette lose to Purdue but came away impressed. Purdue is really good, I think Marquette will be really good by the end of the year.

The PC loss was a bad one imo, they got routed in the second half.. Xavier had a good win but Creighton winning at Northwestern in a very well played game was the best win of the bunch to me..

The Big East is 4-3 vs the Big Ten in this series. The final game is between DePaul and Illinois. The last time they played was in 1957.
I wonder how Butler will play this year with a new coach, it's fourth since joining the Big East. (Stevens, Miller, Holtmann and now Jordan)

Providence had a pretty nice win over Washington last night too. Not a bad week overall.

Purdue is really good, I think Marquette will be really good by the end of the year. Marquette doesn't impress me at all. Still don't play any defense. Outside of their undersized back court of Howard and Rowsey they can't score and have no interior presence. Hauser. ia a wing having to play the 4 and struggles with physicality. Theo John has nice size but can't stop fouling. Froling won't be the answer. He struggled mightily on defense at SMU. Heldt is completely lossed defensively and hasn't shown the ability to score against good competition. Marquette can't defend and struggles on the glass. They miss their players with some toughness like Luke Fisher, Jajuan Johnson and Katin Reinhardt. Team's with strong interior talent like Purdue will eat Marquette alive. Marquette will take a step back this year and miss the tournament. I really expect the Hoyas to finish ahead of Marquette in conference.

Yeah there's no chance of that. We'll see.

IF I had to do a power ranking today. Still kind of muddled, but my best guess. Everyone will have a better gauge after the early season tournaments coming up.
1 Nova 2 Seton Hall 3 Xavier 4 Creighton
5A Providence SB St. John's
7A Butler 7B Marquette 7C Georgetown
10 DePaul

Froling was a 1st semester freshman transfer from SMU, not sure how much can be taken from a handful of games.. He was well regarded coming into college so we'll see..

I think Xavier is better than SH. Winning at Wisconsin is very impressive, and will look better later this year because WIS always seems to get better. Plus, all the players at Xavier are somehow there for 11 years. Isnt this Bluett's like 10th year?

Not sure how good NWestern really is They struggled in their first two games vs. Loyola MD and St. Peters winning by 4 and 9 points respectively

Not sure if this is the place to mention this but our ex-player Ike Copeland and his Nebraska Cornhuskers were dumped by St. Joh's last night. Ike played 29 minutes and was 2-9 from the field, 0-4 from the 3. I wonder if he has second thoughts. His game would play well with the new uo-tempo Hoyas. Anyone know what Paul White is up to at Oregon? Posters are talking about this in the "games of interest thread"..

They lost Nigel Hayes and Native American superstar Bronson Koenig. As good as both those guys were in college both are in the D league. I think all they really have is Ethan Happ.
