The Dow continues to be in free fall. We are coming up to the anniversary of Trump signing the tax bill, and the Dow is currently more than 2,000 points lower than that day, a decline of 8.3% from that point, almost exactly a year ago. And in the meantime, the deficit has soared. I smell some alternative facts coming soon to a press conference near you.

‘You’re a millionaire funded by billionaires... and what they want you to do is scapegoat immigrants instead of talking about their tax evasion.’ Stuck the landing....

I wish people would understand that a lower refund does not mean they paid more taxes.

I wish people would understand that a lower refund does not mean they paid more taxes. True, but most people didn't pay attention to their net paycheck over the course of the year and with the likely increase in health insurance premiums, it's hard for people to assess. If they were doing their withholding properly, they should be getting no refund or paying very little to Uncle Sam at tax time. But it was hard to adjust since the IRS and everyone else were laggard in getting information out about the effect of the tax changes. Otherwise, you're letting Uncle earn interest on your money. Granted, if you don't have the discipline to save your own money, that's on you.

Corporate bonuses given out since the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was passed amount to just $28 per U.S. worker, according to a new analysis from the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service . The total amount spent on bonuses was no bigger than 3% of the total amount spent on corporate tax cuts in the bill.
From 2017 to 2018, companies paid $76 billion less in taxes.

At least whatever bonuses were given out to the rank and file have been offset by the tariffs. So, that's good, right? Oh, wait...

I don't know how many times these scumbags have to show their a$$es for their base to finally understand that those they elect neither represent nor care an iota for them.

Critical race theory is more important than this. Apparently so. Which is odd considering the number of "Republicans" that don't have a clue what critical race theory is other than it has to do with people of color and they find that scary.

I think its funny how we've started posting parodies of Republican "ideas" because none of the actual Republicans dare show up when tashoya calls them. But, but... Hunter's laptop!

I think its funny how we've started posting parodies of Republican "ideas" because none of the actual Republicans dare show up when tashoya calls them. But, but... Hunter's laptop! Their silence is tacit support of what the "Republican" party has become. And, this is how bad it's gotten. Seemingly intelligent Georgetown graduates who support this garbage can't formulate a cogent line of reasoning as to why. Elvado tried a few years ago with the, "I vote with my wallet," rationalization. And, yeah, we all do to an extent. But, your "savings" come at what cost? How does one justify that if they have any semblance of morality or equity or any caring for American democracy at this point? They can't answer those questions so they just don't bother. I assume they avoid their bathroom mirrors in the morning too. EasyEd's solution was to ask me to not respond to his incredibly stupid posts on a public board because he can't defend himself. Sorry, Ed. That's not how discussions work. If you ask people not to respond, maybe the problem is you and not the respondents. The reality is that there's no rational explanation for supporting further marginalization of marginalized segments of our population just because you're afraid that white people will be in the minority within 20 years. That's how it was always going to be in a "melting pot." It should be welcomed. There is no other country like us and white people becoming the minority means that the melting pot worked. It means we actually, on an individual level, decided to love each other and unite to make families together. It should draw us together, not push us apart. Taking the politics out of it and the ugliness that we've seen out of it, it's a beautiful thing that no other country has even tried much less embraced. We should lean into it more and realize that, outside of politics, in our personal lives, there are a great many of us that love our diversity and embrace it as the most "American" part of our identity. We should also, at this point, be acutely aware of how we've marginalized and beaten down segments of our population and rally behind defending the rights they always deserved as Americans instead of trying to reclaim an even uglier part of our collective past. I get that being a politician in today's world can be very lucrative and that personal agendas and greed often supersede morality and conviction. But, if you're a politician and you even tangentially support making it more difficult for African Americans to vote, you should not be allowed to run for office. White people don't have to worry about getting marginalized in any similar way. But, apparently, some of us are just fine with doing that to others of us. IMO, one's stance on abortion or tax cuts isn't worth the price you're paying with regard to actual democracy in voting for these people.

Also, as per usual, apparently, the plan moving forward is to further tax those least able to pay as they're living paycheck to paycheck at best. And, the wealthier "Republicans" are, seemingly, all for it since all they have left as a rationalization for voting the way they do is Elvado's "vote with my own wallet" BS. Realize that you're voting for your own betterment to the detriment of millions of other people. If you're okay with that, please just admit it. And, also realize what that says about you. You can afford to help others. You just don't feel like doing it in any way at all.
