New tonight: Given NYT has now made details on Russian spy public, I can now report additional info we had withheld. Asset had direct access to Vladimir Putin, including the remarkable ability to take photos of presidential documents, and had served US for more than a decade. Asset had risen to the highest levels of Russia’s national security infrastructure. US offered extraction months earlier during Obama administration, but asset refused. Asset’s information was crucial to IC assessment that Putin had directed election interference to favor Trump. This is based on Trump and Obama administration ofcials with direct knowledge. No wonder they felt like Trump might mess this up... Isn't it shocking that he didn't actually do so? So Trump actually did something right?

There's nothing in there suggesting they briefed Trump on the existence, the identity, or the extraction of this asset. In fact, they were so protective, they briefed Obama on the asset differently : There's a lot of holes in there on what exactly the CIA trusted Trump with. He'd have to know about the asset to have done something right.

Roger Stone convicted on all counts and this nice tidbit came out in the trial:

Notable: WaPo reporting Durham, like the DOJ inspector general, has come up empty-handed as well. Also notable Barr traveled the globe strong arming our allies to investigate our own FBI. Clown show.

Is it better to have those investigating you to be for you or against you? Would it be preferable to have pro-Trump people investigating him? If you're innocent, it shouldn't matter much. If you're completely clean, you'd probably prefer those who are against you to try to find you guilty of anything. Regardless, as investigators and not defense attorneys, their political affiliations shouldn't matter very much. It's a convenient misdirection that an attorney might use in a trial but this isn't a trial. It's an investigation. There's no jury to convince. And it's pretty difficult to spin a paper trail or recordings where the goal isn't winning a case but finding evidence. Investigators should not be biased for against. True? IG found no political bias against Trump but he did find this...

It seems that Mr. Barr is not a reliable narrator.

Hilarious.
Mainstream media bias...
Extreme vetting makes a surprising comeback.
Maybe the key to not being investigated by the FBI is to NOT hire a criminal and a bunch of shady characters to work or run your campaign??

FOX can't handle the truth. While Barr is Trump"s Roy Cohn, FOX is his TASS. Amazing how easily they lie... Not really it’s in their nature, especially President Trump... What’s amazing is how easily their supporters believe and or ignore the lies, it’s evident each day on this very board... Very sad times we’re living in right now, it’s way beyond politics in my view. Our President and AG blatantly lie and obfuscate yet none of their supporters call them out on it...

Let’s be honest, when QAnon is seen as the intellectual lodestar of the Trump movement, it doesn’t matter what any investigation turns up. All that matters is the crafted narrative. Mark Burnett would be proud.

The worst case scenario they keep trying to make happen already happened and you guys loved it. The FBI did intervene in the election, but it was against his opponent, and you guys cheered it the whole time. Republicans leaked the information and jumped in front of every camera possible to talk about it.

It's like Sean Hannity is the AG. Trump's Roy Cohn strikes again.

Interesting that none of you have posted any of Horowitz's responses to Republican questions. Selective reporting. But, in general, are you happy with how the FBI acted re the FISA submissions?

I haven't been a fan of the FBI's use of the FISA court since Snowden leaked out how they were secretly getting email & phone data. The FBI did a bad job with respect to Carter Page in this saga, no doubt about it and they should be held to account... How do you feel about Horowitz telling us that the investigation was justified and that he found no bias in the investigation into the Trump campaign?

I do not agree with the IG's conclusions and await the Special Investigator's report due in spring or summer.
On a related subject, Byron York has an exhausted look at the subject of spying on the Trump campaign. It starts with:
"The great debate about whether the FBI spied on the Trump campaign continues. The question is why there is still any argument. The newly released report from Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz shows that by any definition the FBI did indeed spy."
I will see if I can figure out how to show the link.

You definitely know more about this than the guy who just spent the last year digging into the topic. And, is this "investigate the investigator until we get the answer we want" the way we are going do to things from now on? This is another wonderful outcome of the trump presidency? Any chance you can see that this is not good or is absolving your man the only thing that matters?
