My daughter is a high school guidance counselor. I barely trust her with car keys, let alone a firearm. She didn't get into guidance for the chance to police her school while strapped? How strange. Surely she can take some classes? Well, she has spent a few nights in Philadelphia, so she may have learned a few things.

Surely teachers will have more courage and will to get into an armed confrontation with a mad man then a sheriff deputy... Seriously, Is this what we're asking them to do?

"Gun-free is an invitation for these crazy people to just come in and shoot."
So the implicit first part (a crazy person legally owning an assault weapon) isn't a problem but the gun-free school is one? How is that logical to anyone regardless of their feelings about the Second Amendment?

And never the twain shall meet. I just wonder if others were as disgusted and disheartened by this as I was.

And never the twain shall meet. I just wonder if others were as disgusted and disheartened by this as I was. Yes. I wasn't, however, surprised. The fact that I wasn't is really depressing. I can comprehend that we have a multitude of different landscapes and population densities and viewpoints in this country. America is a large, diverse place. But, at the base of everything, we all (I think or hope or both) want pretty much the same stuff. Yet we can't seem to agree that no one needs assault rifles. Heck, we can't even agree that we should have a more stringent process for attempting to obtain one. And, even if we did all agree (a majority of us as Americans do), our politicians wouldn't do a thing to make it happen because they need NRA funding to get re-elected. Since re-election is the real job of today's politician, what their constituencies want sort of pales in comparison. Ironically, being all in on guns gets some of these people elected because we fail to see the nuance in the issue. Even after the latest massacre, I haven't heard anyone talking about any weapons other than assault rifles. No one is saying we need to ban handguns. The nuance is exceedingly important if we're going to see any changes. I don't give a what you hunt. You don't need an AR to do it. No one is going to have to drastically change their day to day life if they can't own one or several assault rifles. And it's not a God-given right so can we please stop with that baseless argument?

Despicable, if not unsurprising from this classless vulgarian and his morally bankrupt party.

“I really believe I'd run in, even if I didn't have a weapon,” Trump said during a White House meeting with governors from across the country, adding that he thinks the governors assembled also would have rushed into Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. “You never know until you’re tested,” he added. This is the same guy that - is afraid of stairs - needed a golf cart at the G7 - couldn't look and didn't do anything when someone had a heart attack at Mar a Lago Everything out of his mouth is a lie.

Jim AcostaVerified account @acosta Following Following @acosta More Trump appears to be backing away from his support for 21 year age limit for assault weapons purchases, sources tell us tonight.
Let's discuss how we can do nothing to prevent the next shooting until we do nothing to prevent the next shooting...
By all means we should look at system failures but we can also look at gun control, can't we?

vs.
Their crime is charging NRA members the same rates as every other American. Not sure if that's even legal but interesting how he views that as something he needs to take action to prevent while the other thing gets thoughts and prayers...

By all means we should look at system failures but we can also look at gun control, can't we? Paul Ryan to NRA: Excuse me, oh grand NRA, but can we look at even the most rudimentary gun control? NRA: Nope. Slippery slope, clear violation of 2nd Amendment, only Communists support any form of gun control, blah, blah, blah. Paul Ryan to yaboyNyP: Sorry, yaboyNyP, we cannot and will not look at gun control.

It only took 5 days to have the scenario I asked about in this same thread transpire. How surprising.

I'm posting this, but I know no one is gonna care about this because even the right doesn't really believe a word out of his mouth. Deep down they know the Russia stuff is all true.
The one thing I think he does believe in the above is that he can just do away with due process when he feels like it.
