I'm loving how hard he boxes out at times. I didn't focus on him every possession, but I saw at least twice where he drove his dude backwards three or four steps. I think the last time I saw that was Mike Sweetney. And Mike was a lot bigger and stronger than Grayson. I had my eye on him a bit and he defended well with good spacing and used his body to control the offensive player. His spacing and movement on offense was fairly good too. He can set really good picks, which is nice to see a Hoya big do beside Leblanc.

I believe Grayson was the first recruit of this class.

Are you saying he may be an improvement over Mourning? He's not NOT saying that. Really impressed with how comfortable he looks out there. He is going to be a solid contributor when all is said and done.

If true, I don't like it but best of luck to the kid..
Carter seems to be the prototypical big of this new era of the college game...

Barely played last year so hard to say that we will truly miss his skillset. PE must have saw something that prevented him from playing him more. Either way, good luck to him, we could have used his accuracy if he truly was a good 3 point shooter. It's hard for me to say this in the same post but I'm glad it's not Pickett or Blair. I really think we need their services next year, we will have incredible depth.

Best of luck to him. Pat just doesn't seem to use stretch 5s and I don't think Grayson can hold his own against 4s. I loved his shooting and wished he got more minutes in our thin frontcourt last year but if he couldn't break in then, I don't see much room against Yurt, Wahab, Tim, and Wilson.

Just recruited over between Alexander and Gardner. You can’t have 4 wings on the floor. Kid wants to play and likely knew that wasn’t really going to happen at GU. He was No. 12 on my pecking order of current 14 and two below him were frosh, so totally makes sense.

I thought he was respectable in the minutes he had last season, showed some promise. If he does leave I hope he finds a good fit where he can succeed.

Hard to know what we lost right now, but I wish Carter nothing but the best in his new home. It was a numbers game here that just did not work out in his favor. Cannot blame the kid for wanting to find a place where he will get minutes.

Not sure why you would say Ewing doesn’t use stretch 5s. Govan and Mourning both played some stretch 5 and Yurtseven appears to be that type of player as well. I think the problem with Carter was that he couldn’t defend anybody and was years away from contributing - at 6’8” and not particularly strong or quick, he was a tweener without a position. One could argue that we’d have been better off in the long run giving some of Mourning’s minutes last year to Carter. I think sitting out a year will greatly help Grayson with his strength/athleticism and he has a good chance to be a quality contributor at a program a half-step down from Georgetown (similar to Antwaan Walker at URI). Carter was never a highly sought after recruit and as others have said, looks to be lower on the depth chart now than he was at the end of last season. Best of luck to him, seems like a good kid from a good family.

At a school with the right need, Carter will be a strong contributor. Agree that he seemed to be a tweener. He had the best looking stroke on the team last year.

I liked him but literally nothing stuck out about his game. Plus we have a logjam in the frontcourt...

Based on what Ive seen, the deep post skills are prioritized then shooting range is just a bonus. Jessie was a great 3pt shooter but Pat never made the effort to get him the ball in a good perimeter shooting position outside of the secondary break.

Best of luck to him. He was the earliest commit in the '18 class. I like his potential, but not surprised he's the one to go. Doesn't necessarily fit what Ewing is trying to do with his bigs

I wouldn't be surprised to see him land somewhere like Baylor or somewhere close to home. I saw a player with good potential that was just a freshman that just didn't have many minutes available once Ewing committed to Mourning getting time and Kaleb essentially playing the 4 spot. I'll be watching his career for sure as I think he may turn out to be pretty good in the right situation. Wish him well.
