I personally think Mourning will be an important part of the rotation next year. I know others feel otherwise but I have always been impressed with his offensive game in the limited minutes we have seen.
If Trey can give us a solid 10 to 15 minutes a game backing up at the C and PF that is a significant help with our depth upfront.
Maybe I am being too optimistic but I see untapped talent there...

There are more than 10-15 back up minutes. I think Govan would be a far more effective player if he was playing 28 mins a game, and Derrickson at maybe 30.

That's 22 available (C/PF) minutes with Carter. LeBlanc & Walker already on the roster next year. Some may say LeBlanc & Walker can play a little 3, but a majority of those minutes will go to Pickett. I don't want to get to deep in the Mourning situation, but not really a lot of minutes to go around. This is under the assumption Derrickson & Govan remain on the Hilltop.

I could see Mourning playing 10-15 of those minutes, with Josh getting 15 himself at the 4/3. My guess would be that Walker & Carter would be depth guys up front, at least to begin the year.

Sorry i still see Pickett as a 2 guard. So Leblanc will play some 3.

Sorry i still see Pickett as a 2 guard. So Leblanc will play some 3. TBD. He doesn't have that Whittington type defensive prowess and also has to improve his (still developing) handle. If he does, it would be phenomenal to have length from the 2-5 spots on the floor. Right now and for the foreseeable future he plays the 3. He'll be a wing, but not at the 2 spot until he improves on a few things. Those who know more about Carter, is he a stretch 4? I don't see a lot of banging in the highlights. Is he more butterfly or bull? Reminds me of Derrickson his Freshman & Sophomore seasons. Derrickson is a good example of how Ewing is the best at pulling the low post tricks out of his bag.

I see a lot of Derrickson in Carter. Both can really shoot it and with nice form to boot. They both have very little lift, under the rim types. Carter will be a better handler, and when he gets more muscle, will have some post game like Derrickson. He already has that post and mid range turnaround jumper. They look a lot alike.

He plays the 2 now when the game starts. Kaleb I dont think of as the other guard just by how they assemble when we are breaking a press.

I think Carter will come in and be the main back up for Derrickson at the 4 next year. That might only leave him 10-15 minutes a game but that might be a good way for him to get his feet wet in college. If Mourning returns I think he will back up Jessie, assuming Jessie stays for his senior year. The guy that might not get the minutes he wants is Walker who has been a strong rebounder and plays hard as a freshman but seems to struggle on the offensive end. He will need to improve over the off season if he wants to get minutes in front of Carter and Mourning.

Can Guyer win state? Denton Guyer is ranked No. 16 in the nation by USA Today, and with good reason. The state's top-ranked Class 6A team is 34-1 and boasts a lineup that includes Georgetown signee Grayson Carter and four-star recruits De'Vion Harmon (committed to Oklahoma) and Jalen Wilson (offers from national powers Purdue, Texas Tech, Kansas, OU, Texas A&M and others). But the playoffs have been a frustrating experience for Guyer. The Wildcats lost in the second round four straight years from 2013 to 2016, then got knocked out in the first round last season, falling 92-91 in overtime to Euless Trinity. Guyer leads area teams in scoring, averaging 80.7 points per game, and its only loss was 68-66 to 5A state No. 1 Waxahachie on Dec. 29. Wilson averages 16.7 points and 6.2 rebounds, Harmon averages 15.8 points and 5.3 assists, Carter averages 13.8 points and 5.3 rebounds and JaKobe Coles averages 13.3 points and 6.3 rebounds. Guyer has outscored its opponents by an average of 19.3 points per game, but it has had 12 games decided by eight points or less. While going 14-0 in District 6-6A, Guyer trailed entering the fourth quarter in a 62-56 win over fourth-place McKinney on Jan. 23 and in a 59-55 victory over fifth-place Plano on Feb. 9. sportsday.dallasnews.com/high-school/high-schools/2018/02/16/texas-high-school-boys-basketball-playoffs

Carter hit the 3 to tie it COPPELL — When Kelyn Pennie hit a 3-pointer to give No. 19 South Grand Prairie a six-point lead against Guyer with just over a minute remaining, things looked bleak for the No. 1 team in Class 6A. The Wildcats turned the ball over on two of their previous three possessions and were only 2-of-5 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. But like good teams do, Guyer found a way. Junior guard Jalen Wilson quickly answered Pennie's 3-pointer with a deep 3 of his own to trim the deficit to three points. The Wildcats got a stop on the ensuing possession, and then Grayson Carter tied things up with a clutch corner 3 off an inbounds play. The Wildcats finished with another balanced scoring effort led by Wilson (17 points) and junior De'Vion Harmon (16). Carter (13 points), Darthard (13), and JaKobe Coles (11) also finished in double figures. Guyer advances to the 6A Region I tournament and will play No. 16 Odessa Permian at 8 p.m. Friday at the Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center in Fort Worth. The Panthers knocked off Arlington 47-43 Tuesday night. www.dentonrc.com/sports/guyer-wildcats/2018/02/27/boys-basketball-no-1guyer-shocks-no-19-south-grand-prairie-furious-comeback-final-minute
