To me, he’s Derrickson 2.0. Similar build and mobility. Can stroke it from deep. I’d like to see him develop an inside game and some quickness. he can shot but Derrickson was pretty special

From the little I've seen he has a turnaround jumpshot that he uses as a weapon in the paint. That is something Derrickson didn't appear to have coming out of high school.

Derrickson played inside a lot in his year at Brewster, there are plenty of clips showing his 3 level scoring abilities.. I'm a fan of Carter's but I don't think he's MD 2.0 right now, I do feel he's a better athlete than MD..

None (or barely any) of the clips for Derrickson showed a turnaround jumper. I would know because that's the type of stuff I look for. That's why the Trey Mourning highlights got me excited: a bunch of turnaround jumpers. That may be a silly, antiquated offensive weapon to get hyped up about but I'm sucker for that nonetheless. And when it shows up, especially baseline turnaround jumpshots, in clips for recruits I'm pretty much sold on that alone.

The closer Derrickson got to the hoop, the more likely he was going to get his shot blocked. He had no hops, but the current weight loss may help a bit. Do you remember Marcus ever dunking? I like him as a player, but the NBA is a high bar for skilled kids.

Of all the games played on TV this season I recalled Derrickson dunking twice. One may have come in the second half against Syracuse off a feed from Govan.

Saw some in other HS clips as well..

I'm going to miss Marcus, wish him the best. I think he can score @ the next level (reasonably) but defense is in question, he's a tweener.
I think Carter compares very favorably to Derrickson and coach Ewing will have several versatile forwards to work with.

There is a scene in the movie, The Temptations, where Dianna Ross, Florence Ballard, and Nancy Wilson strut into the room to compete against the Temptations in a singing contest, and one of the members of the star-struck Temptations goes: "Man, I hope they don't sing as good as they walk." Grayson's dashing good looks and charm makes me want to say, "Man, I hope this kid can play half as good as he looks!"
Just teasing, Grayson. Welcome to the fold!

My bad. Mary Wilson. Thanks for the correction. Florence Ballard was always my favorite.

I wonder how Nancy Wilson would have sounded with Diana and Flo... I can hear them doing Barracuda in my head...

I was thinking about an old girlfriend when I wrote "Nancy". Think I preferred the young voluptuous "Mary".

Nancy Wilson of Heart wasn't the first singing Nancy Wilson. The first Nancy Wilson would no doubt have fit in much better with the Supremes than Heart's Nancy Wilson, but I don't think she would have taken a back seat to Diana Ross.

Crap, was looking forward to seeing his potential. Very crowded frontcourt however.
