Campbell beat Methodist (Div. III) 70-0! Must have been a "track meet". Georgetown may have their hands full, a disadvantage not playing in Week 1. Either the Camels are "all that" or Methodist is terrible. Looking forward to next Saturday, Go Hoyas!

That we do not have the minimum number for the generous offer of wine says that this program needs some work. That having been said, it's on to week one.
1st quarter updates to follow below.
Campbell: Three and out, punt to G37 Georgetown: Two plays, INT at G47 Campbell: Three and out, punt to G15 Georgetown: Three and out, punt to C30 Campbell: 12 plays to G15, missed FG Georgetown: Three and out, punt to C12 Campbell: Three and out, bad punt to C31 Georgetown: Three and out, 42-yd FG GU 3-0
End of 1, 3-0. The defense looks good (as always), offense has 21 yards total offense, no first downs.

This rushing game is lifeless and it's the first half of the first game.

I guess I won the virtual bottle of wine. Good to get a win to start the season. I'm glad there was more excitement in the 2nd half.

Hoyas won 2 of 3 areas on Saturday. Defense was superb under new DC Kevin Doherty. They bent a bit, but didn't break. The two DTs, Paris and Jefferson stood out controlling the LOS and putting pressure on the QB. Special teams was good with Brad Hurst averaging about 44 yards a punt, kicking a 40+ yard FG, and keeping Campbell deep in territory with some excellent punts. Offense is a different story. Let's hope Coach Neuberger can come up with a creative scheme, establish a running game, and gain some consistency by next Saturday against Marist.

I wonder how Campbell is expected to finish in the Pioneer? Tied for 5th of 11 in coaches' poll, and behind Marist at #3.

I think Campbell may surprise some people. GU stopped their running game but their senior QB was impressive having several dropped passes, throwing the long ball well, and rushing the ball elusively. Coach Minter has them headed in the right direction, they are joining the Big South Conference next year (I think). Stadium was packed at about 6000 and crowd was into the game. The school is in the "middle of nowhere", but they got good fan support. Look for them to improve in the future.
