James Bishop, CG, Mt. St. Joseph’s – Known mostly as a scorer, Bishop really looked improved as a point guard at the event. With good quickness and a fairly explosive first step, Bishop was getting into the lane and instead of shooting, he would find open teammates and set up buckets. Also Bishop as usual showed he could score from deep, but it was his improvement as a facilitator that really stood out. Woody Newton, SF/PF, Mt. Zion Prep – Arguably the top long term prospect at the event was Newton. At around 6-foot-7 with really long arms and good athleticism, Newton is the type of versatile forward who is all the rage in today’s positionless basketball. Newton can handle the ball, has a pretty good stroke out to the three point line, and also can beat his man one on one off the dribble. Now Newton just needs to continue to get stronger, but there is no doubt that he can be one of the best forwards in the country before it is all said and done. Myles Stute, PF, Gonzaga – There might not have been a more impressive individual performance than the one Stute delivered during the Metro Challenge. Stute, who is a near elite athlete, absolutely caught fire from three. He was raining in shots from all over, and looked the part of a high-major player. Stute has been inconsistent at times, and is a bit undersized, but with his athleticism if he continues to shoot like he did on Saturday he has a chance to be playing at a very high level. 247sports.com/Article/Many-of-the-top-prospects-in-the-DMV-got-together-for-the-Metro-Challenge-116643399 Evans: I am a big fan of Myles Stute’s and while he made his first move within the rankings, I still am afraid that his placement at the 117th overall spot is a bit too low. While he is still attempting to make the transition solely to the small forward position, Stute embodies all that you look for in a long-term prospect. A 6-foot-6 sophomore that competes like his life is on the line, can make shots to the perimeter, is a sneaky athlete at the basket, and is a willing defender that can guard up to three positions on the floor, Stute checks many of the boxes. Toss in the fact that he plays for one of the best 16-under teams in America, Team Takeover, and plays for one of the most respected high school coaches in America with Steve Turner at Gonzaga College High School, and one would expect for Stute to only get better as he ages. I am buying now into the entire picture that is Stute’s profile as a high-major prospect that I am a bit afraid that we ranked him too low in the new Rivals125. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/new-release-updated-2020-rivals150-with-analysts-opinionsOklahoma State, Clemson, Georgetown and Florida have been heavily involved with the 6-foot-5, 200-pound Stute, who has taken an official visit to Penn, strong evidence of how seriously he takes academics. irishsportsdaily.com/s/8518/hoophall-classic-tips-offStute is staying patient with the process and doesn’t have any other visits scheduled at the moment, but is “definitely looking to get one to Georgetown pretty soon.” irishsportsdaily.com/s/8527/2020-f-myles-stute-updates-recruitment-offers-thoughts-on-notre-dame

Can we now change gears with Cole to UNC! Maybe not this weekend but "Who's on Campus this Week"? Let's talk about that! Who do you'll think will complement our line up next year?

For those who lamented Hoyas Madness we got a great recruit despite that. Thankfully some prospects are able to see the vision.

The funny thing is if the young man can play, we will never here from those that crapped all over his commitment to Georgetown admitting they were wrong. But if he can't, they will be all over hoyatalk in every thread saying they were right.
Look at McClung and all those posters that were poo-pooing when he initially committed. Where are all those people now. Occasionally they stick their heads out from their hiding places to take a passive aggressive shot at McClung when he doesn't play well but overall...crickets.

I trust in Coach Ewing's talent assessment much more than those evaluators that attend camps and tournaments to apply ratings to players. If Coach believes he's a good Hoyas fit, I believe him!!

Or perhaps he is the only PG he could get because we are not high on the radar for many (despite how many recruits “list” us). We are celebrating two former players being drafted into the Gleague. We only have two former players on NBA rosters. Penny Hardaway and Juwan Howard have created more buzz than Ewing. We are now celebrating the recruitment of a kid with offers from Canisius, ETSU, Georgia State. I’m hopeful but realistic.

Yes, remembering some of those comments. Then to mention the draft and G-League player results; these were players that were here before Coach got here. Coach's recruited players are still on campus at this time.

Michigan and Memphis have all sorts of resources when it comes to recruiting. Winning is our main missing ingredient though.

We are now celebrating the recruitment of a kid with offers from Canisius, ETSU, Georgia State. I’m hopeful but realistic. I know we want Ewing to succeed. His batting average isn't that strong on the top recruits, and if Harris is his best option, take it. SB Nation's Xavier blog is telling us something those inside the Beltway are often reticent to understand: "How you perceive Georgetown probably depends on how old you are. For my generation, they are the team of Dikembe Mutumbo, Patrick Ewing, and Alonzo Mourning...They’re a big program, one that ranks up there with Duke, UNC, UConn, and Syracuse when you think of the old guard of the east coast. If you’re younger than me, though, your perception of Georgetown might be a little bit different...Drop down to the age of my brothers in college and high school and you likely think of the Hoyas as a Big East also ran. One of those teams that is always there, but never really accomplishes much." www.bannersontheparkway.com/2019/10/29/20938188/georgetown-team-preview-does-patrick-ewing-have-the-hoyas-on-the-right-track-big-east-xavier
