Ask the folks carrying tiki torches while chanting "blood & soil along with other horrible garbage in Charlottesville not too long ago Ed.. Thanks for changing the subject. The left is good at that.

Not sure how I changed the subject, the folks chanting the above garbage were clearly exercising their right to free speech.. What am I missing?

Major American city is underwater from a 500-year flood and the chief climate denier on the board is accusing people of changing the subject.

You changed the subject from Berkeley to Charlottesville. You asked if anyone had free speech besides the left, why would that question be specific to Berkeley? The answer is still yes btw..

I strongly disagree with antifa but comeon, the constitution protects the right of free speech; Not the right of no retribution for what is said. This shouldn't be a free speech discussion, this should be a bipartisan domestic terrorism discussion.

This shouldn't be a free speech discussion, this should be a bipartisan domestic terrorism discussion. I agree as long as the retribution is not violent or overly provocative. In my posts I try, not always successful, to show the other side of a story, one that is often neglected on this board and in the media. Just as white supremacists do not represent the right or the Republican party, the antifa does not represent the left or the Democratic party.

I get what you're trying to say, but nobody of prominence on the left is supporting Antifa, that's the difference. There will always be extremist groups across the political spectrum, but they don't usually have a President running promo for them.
Trump, the leader of the Republican Party, has been elevating "alt-right"/white nationalist voices since the beginning of his campaign. He casually retweets random accounts like "White Genocide tm" to his 20 million followers. He posts bigoted memes grabbed from their websites to his 20 million followers. They draw inspiration from his message. They call him cute names like "God Emperor". They are at the RNC Convention. They have people they identify ideologically within this Administration. They were some of his loudest voices, and continue to be a big part of his support.
What current politician on the left does Antifa draw inspiration from? Who is the current pol on the left supporting, amplifying, or sympathizing with their message?
If the current leader of the Republican party wasn't playing footsie with the "alt-right", it would be two groups of a-holes beating each other up in the park. Instead, they feel like they have an ally in the White House. That sucks...

"Our democracy has no room for inciting violence or endangering the public, no matter the ideology of those who commit such acts," Pelosi said in a statement. "The violent actions of people calling themselves antifa in Berkeley this weekend deserve unequivocal condemnation, and the perpetrators should be arrested and prosecuted." (I guess Pelosi doesn't think that there were "very fine people" on the antifa side as Trump indicated with respect to the neo-Nazis, KKK, and white supremacists in Charlottesville . . . but I do see "unequivocal condemnation" which Trump could not do. I also do not see anyone from the antifa side tweeting out their thanks to any Democrats, unlike Trump who received thanks from the likes of Richard Spencer and David Duke). thehill.com/homenews/house/348493-pelosi-condemns-anitfa-after-berkeley-clashesthehill.com/homenews/news/346675-david-duke-thanks-trump-for-blaming-alt-left-for-charlottesville

If the left is great at changing the subject (we all know how well Trump stays on topic; is still making Hillary comments when asked real questions), use an exception to the rule to make your point. The right is GREAT at that.

Is the right going to blame this coming weekend's Juggalo violence on Democrats too?

In celebration of my 86th birthday today, my wife and I purchased a classic 1970 VW Beetle we plan to use to chase down anyone who disagrees with us. Only problem I anticipate is too many chicks flocking to me.

That's the popular symbol of the #MAGA crowd, right?! ;-) Go beat off the chicks with a stick. And I'll blow out some candles tonight at the Indivisible Arlington meeting! ;-) Cheers/Hoya Saxa....
