Wish him well, and hope Frank Martin doesn't bite his head off. Blair might be the right personality for him. "Why are you playing defense with your stupid spin circle move defensive stance!" "Stop dribbling so high!"

Hope he averages 15 and 5 and shoves it down the throats of those who attacked him unmercifully on this board.

I am really happy for Tre. He had a great game in the win against Xavier in 2016 with a career high. I hope to congratulate him in person at the banquet for his graduation and his move to Carolina. Godspeed Tre. Carolina is lucky to get you.

Campbell had tons of chances to succeed - he never did (save the one Xavier game on the road). It would have been awesome for the program if he would have been any good at all. We needed him to be productive and everyone was rooting for him. Unfortunately, he didn't provide much and failed in his three years as a Hoya. Good luck to him at South Carolina. Seems like a higher level than where he should be playing, but if he wants to use his 4 failed years on the Hilltop as motivation, more power to him.

I'll take the under on some fans behaving graciously to the students as their Hoya career ends. Good luck to Tre. Hope he has a good year in S. Carolina and that he learns that caps lock is a choice, not a commitment.

How much competitive basketball has Tre played recently? I wonder how sharp he will be. Best of luck.

Also, if he earns his Georgetown degree he has not failed.

Good luck to you Tre. With the exception of one magical game in Cinci when you hit about 20 3's against Xavier, it never really worked out for you here. Hope you'll be a contributor there.

Best of luck to Tre. After a promising freshman season, he never developed much despite ample opportunities. Lots of potential reasons for that, but no use rehashing anything. He looks more solid in those pictures, so a year off working on his game and body might have done him some good. I also think he should be thankful that Georgetown does right by its players and kept him on scholarship to finish his degree, when many many other programs would have pushed him out the door and left him to fend for himself as a straight transfer.

After his freshman season, I was quite optimistic about Tre, especially since guards have typically made pretty good jumps between their freshman and sophomore years. In fact, while limited in playing time, Campbell seemingly had a better freshman season than Markel Starks and some other Georgetown guards. Freshman year, he shot 41.9% on threes in Big East play, for example. His turnover rate was also extremely low.
Obviously, all of that took a big dip his sophomore year, and also junior year (when he may have gotten injured). It's not entirely clear why that happened. Combined with injury considerations, the change in coaching staff, etc. surely played into his decision-making to sit out this year and transfer elsewhere - I actually think its laudable that he stayed at Georgetown to finish his degree - he could have easily transferred somewhere else last year with the same result (since he didn't play this past season anyway).
Ironically, I think had Campbell come back last year (assuming he was healthy), he could have probably contributed. Even if you assume a modest improvement over his sophomore/junior years, he likely could have provided some help given Mulmore/Dickerson's struggles.
I also don't see any benefit to being negative about players in this situation. While we, as fans, surely wished that Tre Campbell's stay at Georgetown was more fruitful on the court, I am sure Tre probably feels even more strongly about that.

Tre actually played well in the last NCAA Tournament win for the Hoyas. Hit some big shots when it was looking like another upset special was in the works in the first half.

He really deserves the clean slate. He had a rough four years at Georgetown with his medical issues and then the knee injury. It’s not entirely clear why it didn’t work out. His high school coach suggests that it was a bad fit. The guard position was so thin during the last year’s of JT3 that he placed a lot of pressure on guards to develop and play roles that didn’t fit their skills. Not to belabor the point, but that is a key reason JT3 lost his job.
So, I wish Tre well and will be rooting for his success. He is certainly going to a strong program.

Tre was a pretty confident player. Wish him all the best. Disagree. I hope Tre has a fun grad year. He was another beta player on the alpha-less teams that JT3 liked. In his last year he had just 3 FGA/game in 21 mpg and 62% from ft. Maybe, just like Marcus, he needed a good yelling to from his head coach to play less trigger-shy. Martin certainly will provide it. Good luck to him unless he plays GU...
