He's more of a defensive minded point guard. Not much offensive game in the halfcourt. Would still love him. Not much of a jumper, no. He absolutely has an offensive game in the halfcourt. He's hard to contain off the dribble, and a very good passer. He gets to the basket with ease and creates both for himself and others. Translating to college, those same drives aren't going to be there without an improved jumper. He's not really breaking down guys off the dribble or carving them up in PnR. He's blowing by them. The kid is a blur. But I think he comes in as a defensive guy with a lot of work to do offensively. Nothing wrong with that, I'm a fan.

His ultimate ceiling will be determined by how good he can eventually shoot the ball...If he can become a 40 percent 3 point shooter, he has a chance to be very good

Absolutely agree...John Wall is a blur and he couldn't shoot coming out of college...Xavier appears athletic and fast, but he also takes care of the ball (from the little I saw) and passes well, and was willing to blow by his man and get to the hoop in crunch time...and his defense is excellent, as noted...did you observe him boxing out the opposing shooter on F/Ts ? He just seems to be a tough minded/refuse to lose type of kid...would definitely be an asset...

Kid is definitely feeling the love from the fan base, hopefully the staff is giving him that same vibe...

^^ Rising senior guard Xavier Johnson of Team Takeover told Espn that Washington, Nebraska, Georgia Tech, Georgetown, and South Florida are some of his top schools. Produces on both ends of the floor and feeds off the conversion game. Paul Biancard

Xavier Johnson, the 6-foot-3 point guard from Bishop O’Connell (VA), is one of the most underrated point guards in the class of 2018 and has shown he can play with the best of the best during this year’s July Evaluation Period.

No mention in that article could explain the retweets from Hoya fans on his timeline. He wants the staff to step it up and is subbing them using us.
Whatever it takes. Local and exactly the kind of player we should be targeting at his position.

Based on his retweets, I have a feeling that he would be more than receptive to the staff if they made a strong push for his services.

If we could lock him up with a big push now, I say they should go for it and start building some momentum for a strong 2018 class. This kid can really defend and has elite speed, just the type of guard who has been killing the Hoyas the last few years.

Looks like we can add Xavier Johnson to the Kenner League mix.

Keldon and Xavier both playing tonight? Can't be a coincidence right??

Did he end up playing? Any impact? If utilized correctly, Kenner could be a great recruiting tool. Similar to the Yates pick-up games in growing chemistry but a bit more consequence.

He played Friday night but had little to no impact.

I think I am very much in the minority here but i prefer Hinton to Johnson. Of course would take either or both but he has a more polished offensive game and the size is very intriguing at that position.

I prefer Hinton as well but I think Johnson is more likely to come if they push. XJ Seems to be really open to playing locally. He didn't do much at Kenner but I wouldn't read much into it at all. Tough venue for a HS kid to come into and excel. Definitely not the type of kid they should pass on..
