I think Ewing and the staff have done very well with identifying and pursuing Bates and Fleming, 2 underrated BIG's with tremendous upside and multiple developing skill sets. IMO they also dodged some of the more overrated BIG's in this class. To me if the staff is able to get either one is a major win. I personally think Fleming brings more to the table and is the better offensive prospect , Bates is the better defensive prospect but the staff will get a tremendous addition in either case.
If Bates does become a Hoya, the commitment of Grayson Carter may have played a major role as it is most likely that the staff only takes one more freshman BIG in the 18 class. Cater's commitment may have pushed Bates into making his decision early in order not to risk Fleming committing on his vis visit. If Bates goes to NC st., the staff seems to be in a good place with Fleming and most likely has to fight off Alabama for his commitment and Ewing and company get first crack at Fleming this weekend.

247Sports has Bates going to NC State, even Michael Bohlin picks him to go to NC State

Also coach Keatts(nc st) has been looking at Mccormick very hard as well these past few days. I like our chances very much. But if not..We're in good with Fleming so far.

This will be big IF we can land him. His circle is keeping it close to the vest. I know in the past we've been spurned by some recruits...but IF Bates chooses us it will usher in a new era of recruiting perception of Gtown with Ewing at the helm. Questions of "Can Ewing relate/recruit to today's young players" will be thrown out for good.

The Ewing Haters on here who call themselves Hoya fans/supporters will continue to hate the moment a different prospect picks another program over Georgetown. You know who they are, they used to post everyday multiple times a day at the end of the season when they wanted JT3 out but once Ewing was hired, they became so angry and hate the fact that the greatest player in program history is now the Head Coach, and now they post only when something happens that they feel is criticism worthy.

I have to think that he had a very strong desire to stay close to home...otherwise, I don't see it...onward to Javian!

I know it doesn't mean much because we've been here before, but kudos to the staff for getting down to the final two. Ewing and his staff clearly had his ear and did what they could. We are going to start winning more of these.

It's frustrating to go through the high drama and suspense, it is a sign of our times and technology. We blow these things up because we're avid fans and want the best for the Hoyas, as well as being hungry for information. I must say I prefer low key decisions such as Grayson Carter and others who made quiet, but firm decisions. We will be more successful, I believe, when players are able to see what the style of play will be, even if the competition is less than Big East standards. That I believe will make a difference. I appreciate the staff being competitive, digging in and grinding in the recruiting process. Our day will come, and this unhappy segment of time will pass! Go Hoyas!!

I think sometimes it just comes down to a favorite local school and a favorite non-local school. Can't do much about it either way, just depends on what the kid decides he wants.

Liked Bates but Flemming is my guy... Love his combination of physicality and skill... You and me both.... Fleming is much more skilled and physical with a more developed inside out game. Can score in the post with a variety of low post moves, face up and step out. As his body matures and he gets in better physical shape watch out. Really believe he could be a prospect that after his freshman year evaluators question why they had him so low. So much Z-BO in his game. Also think Fleming pairs better with Carter. Both can be interchangeable.

We have some good frontcourt pieces and prospects. Need a solid PG to make things run.

When it is a DMV area star and GU is recruiting, the player seems to invariably choose to go away. When it is a non-DMV area star and GU is recruiting against a local university (as to the player), the player seems to invariably choose to stay home. Or maybe its just my perception.
