About a month ago I read an article in the Washington Post where he was quoted as saying he couldn't wait to get to NC State, now less than 3 weeks before reporting he backs out.. Very strange, that being said I'd take him but iirc he wasn't very interested in Gtown the 1st time around, it was all about ACC schools.. Makes me wonder if Keatts will block ACC programs.. Did he want to decommit or was he pushed out? N.C. State has accepted a bunch of transfers in the last few weeks.

Can't see a coach wanting to lose a Frosh prospect like Bey before he steps on campus, this article kinda clears it up.. www.newsobserver.com/sports/college/acc/nc-state/article211210144.htmlBey, a 6-7, 195-pound wing from the Sidwell Friends School in Washington, was one of four players to sign with the Wolfpack in the fall.
He was primarily recruited by former assistant coach A.W. Hamilton, who left to become Eastern Kentucky’s head coach in March.
“Saddiq is a great kid and we wish him the best of luck in the future,” Keatts said in a statement released by the school.
This is the same reason Johnson left Nebraska..

Another useful quote from the article was: "Bey would have faced a logjam for minutes on the wing with C.J. Bryce, Devon Daniels, Jericole Hellems and Eric Lockett, a grad transfer from Florida International who committed on Monday."

Saying Bey decommitted is definitely misleading but I guess everyone is keeping it cordial.

Recruiting has become a show. I like Bey, but I don’t think he is a need at this point.

Not familiar with Lockett but it seems shortsighted to toss aside a long term prospect like Bey for a Grad year player..

He's the best player available by a long shot. I remember when this board was in love with his game last summer. Definite take

Was high on Xavier before. But with Mack now at Louisville, I think Saddiq will follow.

Why would Bey wait to announce when it's so late in the process and why would NC State wait and risk what will be obvious negative recruiting now? Neither of those make much sense. They also needed to free up a scholarship. This same scenario happens in football all the time. I tend to believe Bey was the odd guy out when a bigger prize came along. As someone else mentioned just a few weeks ago he said he couldn't wait to get there.

I'm almost certain Maryland and South Carolina will call him, they seem to get in on all the transfers and decomitted payers.

If he can't go ACC, he was looking at Xavier and Northwestern, as well as some Ivies.
I'd bet he ends up at Lousiville when all is said and done. He's a good high school player, but I think he's going to be a much better college player.

What doesn’t make sense is taking a wing grad transfer late and then pushing out a freshman wing for a big who can’t play next season anyway.. Look at their roster, they’re gonna need to actively chase wings in 2019.. I was the poster who talked about the Washington Post article where he said he couldn’t wait to get there but that was before I looked into it further..

Akinjo was released and Patrick was in his living room 15 minutes later. If Bey is being considered by the Hoyas expect to hear something SOON. My gut is telling me there is no interest...
