Etomic,
I agree I hope he ends up at GTown. He has ability and other bigger schools are starting to sniff. My friend didn't seem to think he could play too much. He did say GTown has a real good shot.

He did say GTown has a real good shot. It's interesting that Seton Hall & BC are kicking the tires.. Willard & Holloway @ Seton Hall have good eyes for guards, folks may snicker at this but Christian @ BC does too.. The backcourt he has with Robinson, Bowman & Chatman will be one of the best in the ACC this season barring injuries..

I don't get why people think he can't play. He's a better than decent shooter and can score at the rim.

My main concern is his size. I don't think he's actually the 6'1 or 6'2 that he purports to be, probably more like 5'11. I'm not wild about having a player whose position is not a natural point, with sub-optimal size, trying to learn the position against larger, active Big East-level players. Ewing is 6'10" right? If that is the case then he is 6'2"......

If he were 5' 11, then I'd be even more excited by his athleticism/leaping ability and the fearless nature in which he attacks the rim. It seems that sometimes we really are trying to find a reason not to like any recruit that we seem to have a good chance of signing.

It seems that sometimes we really are trying to find a reason not to like any recruit that we seem to have a good chance of signing. Exactly...unless he's got 5 stars next to his name or top 50 national ranking people will search for reasons to hate. You do realize that players do improve while in college. There games do develop via hard work and good coaching. A lot of high level kids in high school play out of position based on team needs/lacks. They get to college improve, develop other skills so that they can play their natural position. McClung has shown enough to prove he can develop into an at least solid BIG EAST PG. Butler has received very good PG play over the last few years from below average players (skill wise). Please don't come at me with Tyler Lewis was a MCD All American because that was obviously one of the biggest scouting evaluation F UP's in the history of player ranking. I bring up Butler's PG's to say that McClung doesn't have to be spectacular to be very effective. Someone posted it earlier, McClung can be a piece to the puzzle that won't become completely clear for a couple of years. Coach Ewing and the entire staff seem to be all in. They have the vision of the type of program they are putting together. So I'm going to trust them and allow them to put together the pieces to this puzzle.

I don't think that's a fair statement. He a better player than your giving him credit for. You all do realize that McClung is better all around player right now then Xavier Johnson is and some people on here were disappointed when Xavier didn't end up a Hoya. McClung is a way better shooter and more athletic. Not the playmaker in the halfcourt that Xavier seems to be but might be the better fit for what Coach Ewing and the staff are trying to do. It's fair in response to the post made by Bdillion.. McClung is known more for his YouTube vids than the player he is on the court.. Having said that, I like him as a player & think he has the potential to be a good player at this level if he works at it & is developed right.. Again, I hope he picks Gtown.. I have to say though that he's not more athletic than Johnson imo.. What is your definition of athletic? Xavier Johnson is reportedly (and looks) taller and has the longer wingspan. McClung is definitely bouncier than Johnson. Xavier seems to be the quicker of the 2 but McClung has displayed that he's easily the better leaper.

This is sort of a weird comp, but watching the videos, this kid reminds me of Daymond Jackson - except he seems like he can shoot it a bit (which Daymond really could not), has better handle, and has more PG skills. The bounce, size, and the athleticism and the slashing all really remind me of Jackson though.

I think Xavier is the better athlete/player even though he has his limitations. His end to end speed, quickness, and agility is great. I question his offensive skillset. Still would have taken him.
I'm not going to knock the staff if they take McClung. He doesn't move the needle for me but he's Team Loaded so I'm good with it.

When Bill Raftery called Daymond Jackson a "Ham and Egger", he did a disservice to Ham and Eggers everywhere.

Xavier plays better competition at the high school level than Mulmore did in Juco.

Strangely enough Georgetown just re-offered right after BC and Seton Hall Is it possible that because he had committed to Rutgers they have to re-offer?
