While Clarke will likely reclassify, his current 2021 five-star peer, Michael Foster, will not. Foster was at one point committed to Arizona State, but he backed off of that pledge over a year ago. After completing his first two years of high school ball in Milwaukee, Foster is now attending Hillcrest Prep in nearby Phoenix. Could the Sun Devils land Foster's commitment twice? Never say never, but it is their in-state league rivals, the Arizona Wildcats, that have secured an official visit out of the top-10 forward. Not only will Foster be on campus the weekend of Sept. 27, but he will be joined by his two school teammates, Arizona commit Dalen Terry and top-50 wing Puff Johnson. Arizona is not the only program to schedule an official visit with Foster. Georgia, the dark horse, will get the chance to impress Foster the weekend of Sept. 20 when the campus will be buzzing with the Notre Dame football game. The work Tom Crean has become known for in the skill development category has definitely piqued Foster’s interest which is why the Bulldogs should be thought of as a legitimate landing spot. Others such as Florida State, Kansas and Marquette are also working on official visit dates but, barring anything unforeseen, odds are Foster will wait things out a little longer this time around before committing again. Where he lands remains in question, but Foster is the type of talent that should make an immediate impact on a contender. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/three-point-play-terrence-clarke-michael-foster-recent-commitsIt's still early and lots can change between now and whenever Phoenix (Ariz.) Hillcrest's five-star junior Michael Foster makes his decision. But for the time being, Tom Crean and Georgia look to be in very good shape and are putting forth the most effort into landing the versatile forward. Late last week, Crean was in Arizona to watch Foster play in the Hoophall West. Foster and Hillcrest -- who parted ways with coach Mike Bibby on Monday -- struggled some at times but he's proven plenty of times that he has an inside/out game that he can use to inflict lots of damage. When asked who was recruiting him the hardest, Foster pointed to Georgia. “Georgia right now," he said. "The visit was valid, I love what they are doing. They let their players do what they need to do to make the next level. So that’s valid to me.” Georgia's use of potential No. 1 draft pick Anthony Edwards has certainly caught Foster's eye as well. “They have a No. 1 prospect and they let a No. 1 prospect do No. 1 things," said Foster. "Seeing that means a lot." Foster doesn't yet have any timeline for deciding and he's interested in seeing who else wants to make a full run. As for Georgia, he wouldn't call them his outright leader but what he said has to be encouraging if you root for them. “They ride the hardest right now.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/three-point-play-michael-foster-vernon-carey-and-moreIs it just me, or does this kid seem to be really full of himself?

No mention of Georgetown.
Not opposed to staying close to home though bc Maryland is heavily involved. But that just makes the lack of a Georgetown mention more annoying

No mention of Georgetown. Not opposed to staying close to home though bc Maryland is heavily involved. But that just makes the lack of a Georgetown mention more annoying Many of us that follow recruiting closely have been advocating for going hard after him since he was a freshman. But it just never seemed to happen. There's no way it'll happen now--our only real paths to victory in this recruitment were if he was determined to stay local (Maryland offers that, UVA to some degree too, and both have more recent success and have been recruiting him harder), or if we had the "Georgetown has been on me the longest" angle, which we clearly don't. I am not sure why he was not prioritized--perhaps they anticipated that the Dukes of the world would jump in and didn't see it as a worthy investment, but Patrick visited a bevy of 5 star types over the course of the last 6 months so not sure why them and not Keels who was so close to home. Anyway, it's still troubling to see that players in the WCAC--maybe the best high school conference in America, full of Catholic schools that are all a short drive from our campus--continue to look elsewhere. The last player to graduate* from a WCAC school and matriculate to Georgetown was Tre Campbell in the class of 2014. He and Mikael Hopkins (2011) are the only two to do so in a decade. Almost unbelievable. The Georgetown brand is very, very weak among local players these days. Getting WCAC players isn't a per-requisite to be good, and maybe there's an argument to be made that we're better off trying to win over kids from different states and that local kids will pay more attention when we're winning. But it is a bit disconcerting that we're not even remotely in the mix for an elite prospect in our backyard like Keels while schools that we consider our peers and index ourselves against (Villanova, UVA, Maryland, etc.) are front and center in his recruitment. *(Marcus Derrickson played 3 years in the WCAC before going to NH as a senior).

Agree 100%. Also disheartening bc I remember Pat's opening press conference very well, and in that he made it clear he wanted to have a much larger impact in DMV recruiting.

Maybe a tourney run changes the narrative a bit. That is paramount.

I agree with the sentiments expressed above with the cavaet that likely there is more to it than meets the eye, for instance, how the staff gets along with the players and his family. Those things matter, and for some reason the staff did not prioritize this player. On to the next one. I agree wholeheartedly that we should be all over local recruits with whom we feel we have a shot.

It's been along time since we were relevant in DC. The dismal years of JT III and Esherick diminished the school's basketball brand significantly!! ONLY by winning and playing an exciting, uptempo, strong defensive, disciplined (not slow or methodical), improvisational WINNING basketball will we attract the kind of national talent that makes local players taking a hard look at Georgetown. DC ball players, I believe, are spoiled. This is a premiere area to live and enjoy. They long to see other options and when the bluebloods call--those who are at the big dance every year--they listen and commit. DC has been a basketball mecca for a long time....you all know that. Georgetown is back on the road to where it should be. Coach will have to use his resources to find capable, high achieving athletes who have been under-rated or those starred athletes willing to take a chance. DC is a great place to live and play ball. Georgetown is a great university. Winning and with a great style, I believe, will attract the student-athletes we desire and need!

Playing in the WCAC it can be tough for younger prospects to make a big impact because of the quality of competition, but Hawkins started to do that as a sophomore. Then this summer he saw his stock explode at the Nike Elite 100 where the nearly 6-foot-5 wing showed explosive athleticism along with the ability to make shots from distance. Hawkins checks in as the No. 68 prospect in the updated rankings, and even that has the potential to be low if he makes a few tweaks to his game. Hawkins has to get more assertive, play with a better motor all the time, and improve off the dribble. Still, the ability to shoot and be versatile on defense is exactly what college coaches are looking for in wings in this day and age. Hawkins has both of those things at a high level, and at worst could be a high level three-and-D guy going forward. Schools such as Marquette, Pittsburgh, Seton Hall, St. Joe’s and others are already showing significant interest in Hawkins, and his stock could continue to soar as people see him more as a junior on a loaded DeMatha Catholic team. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Star-potential-five-star-class-of-2021-rankings-Blake-Wesley-JerDarrion-Davison-Jordan-Hawkins-Daimion-Collins-Ernest-Ross-135772445/I've liked Hawkins since first seeing his film, but as best I can tell, we haven't shown any real interest in him yet. I'm not sure why. I can't be too disappointed given that our staff has been anywhere and everywhere this summer, clearly working their butts off on the recruiting trail. Maybe they're locked in on a different prospect or two at the same position or something. But Hawkins has been steadily climbing the rankings and has the attention of a lot of the usual suspects. I'm sure Mike Brey will be in touch soon, and if his trajectory continues so will Mark Turgeon, Jay Wright and Tony Bennett. I'm not sure why we wouldn't want to at least make an attempt at a Top 75 kid playing at Dematha. Seems like even if we didn't land him it could help us to continue building our relationships there. Maybe there's more than meets the eye that I'm not getting on this one, or maybe they just feel like they can afford to wait on him for whatever reason. WASHINGTON, DC. – Jordan Hawkins is near his breakout but already a handful of prominent programs have placed the four-star wing high up on their recruiting board. Following a strong showing at the National Hoops Festival on Sunday, Hawkins recapped his high school transfer, the one program standing out and the others in the mix. “I am enjoying it a lot,” Hawkins said about his first year at DeMatha Catholic. “The transition has been really smooth and the guys have been great and so has Coach (Mike) Jones.” Xavier has invested the greatest in Hawkins, he told Rivals.com, though Florida, George Washington, and Marquette are also heavily involved. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/rivals150-junior-jordan-hawkins-enters-into-a-priority-recruitment

National Christian Academy in Fort Washington, Maryland had two guys that really stood out in their win over Cardinal Newman 90-77 in junior guard Jakai Robinson, a national level recruit with offers from Florida, Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech, Georgetown, UConn, East Carolina and St. Joe’s showed one of the best looking shots I saw all weekend. He went for 23 points and made 4-6 from beyond the three-point line with a gorgeous left-handed stroke. He made the winning free-throws in NCA’s win over Orangeville Prep (CAN) 62-61 while scoring 26 points. hoopseen.com/news/event/201912/bojanglesbash-notebook-justinbyerly-part-i?page=0%2C1

LAS VEGAS – Australian guard Josh Giddey emerged in the spring as a high major prospect. Since then Giddey, the versatile playmaker, has continued to progress on the court, and his recruitment has picked up off of it.
On Tuesday playing for the NBA Global Academy at the Tarkanian Classic, Giddey showed off his ridiculous court vision, feel for the game, decision making and passing ability, finding teammates in transition and in the half-court. At 6-foot-7, Giddey has tremendous size for a playmaker.
“It’s kind of just been naturally,” he said about his ability to facilitate. “From a young age I was always a pass first guy, and I stayed that way. I grew and being a bigger guard gives me an advantage so that’s where I got it from.”
Giddey currently claims scholarship offers from Arizona, Baylor, Colorado, Ohio State, Oklahoma and TCU. He also noted that he’s receiving interest from Louisville, Marquette, Georgetown and Iowa State. At this point he doesn’t have any other visits set up.
