Agree with your meet format observation. Men doing well. Women? I guess womAn, singular.

Awesome 2-5 finish for Darren and Scott in the Steeple! Two All-Americans and 12 team points! Darren and Scott are now 3rd and 4th All-Time performers in school history behind John Gregorek (8:21.26, 1981) and Joe Lucas (8:30.2, 1972). Phenomenal result, guys!

You beat me, birdman. Holy cow!!! Darren was first American. A fast race. Coming close to the times of Hoya alum John Gregorek.

Both Darren and Scott punched their tickets to the USATF Nationals in Sacramento starting June 22. Both are declared, but Darren (ironically) was not qualified by time, and Scott was. Now Darren has the World's qualifying time, while Scott is just 0.92 s away. I will be attending the nationals and rooting both of them on. Joe White has also qualified to run and he has declared.

Another great result with Joe White coming in third. He cracked into the 1:45 barrier with 1:45.73. The race is still under review.

800m result is under review, but Joe was third in 1:45.73. Joe would not be negatively impacted by the review- one UTEP runner took out another UTEP runner with 200 left, after one of them executed an inside-pass on the turn to get by the V-Tech runner.
Edit: Sorry for the double, Nevada.

Place Athlete Affiliation Time 1 Emmanuel KORIR FR UTEP 1:45.03 2 Isaiah HARRIS SO Penn State 1:45.40 3 Joseph WHITE JR Georgetown 1:45.73 4 Robert HEPPENSTALL SO Wake Forest 1:46.68 5 Andres ARROYO SR Florida 1:47.28 6 Drew PIAZZA SR Virginia Tech 1:47.58 7 Devin DIXON FR Texas A&M 1:49.32 8 Michael SARUNI FR UTEP 2:15.56
Since Saruni was one of the favorites and ran only 2:15, he must have fallen and they are probably figuring out if he was tripped.

Edit: Sorry for the double, Nevada. Birdman, I didn't see the race, but I thought Saruni fell and I thought they might DQ the one responsible. I am glad you told us the Joe was not involved. So Joe might even move up to 2nd if they DQ Korir.

I've refreshed a number of times, and I think because it was an athlete from the same school after both athletes were clear of the field (and lord, were they ever!), the NCAA is just gonna let this result stand. Great place and time for Joe! He closed really well over the last 350.

The Hoyas finished in 12th place with 18 points. Maybe their best showing ever?

Great result for men--note Fahy was top american, Tribute to him + coaching staff. All results excellent
Looking at the steeple results also provided a reminder of how good Gregorek was 8:21/3.51/1:47 in college.

Nevada:
Thanks for the updates on this meet. But for your posts, I would have missed it. Watched it with Harry last night and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Nasty spill in the 800 as the two teammates were breaking clear.
Joe White just kept his head down and finished really well.
I think Harry is now a track and field fan.

The Hoyas finished in 12th place with 18 points. Maybe their best showing ever? I looked this up an on old media guide posted at GUHoyas.com. The Hoyas finished 8th at the 1991 meet and 13th in 1992.\\ Now, if GU could recruit sprint and field athletes, the sky's the limit.

As an add on for track fans in Oregon, the Portland Track Festival will be held this weekend. Several Hoyas are entered, but I doubt if all will run since som have times that qualify them for the nationals and also worlds. So Darren Fahy is listed as entered in the 3000m SC and Joe White entered in the 800m. Scott Carpenter is listed in the 1500m, along with Amos Bartelsmeyer. Piper Donaghu is entered in the 1500m. Since Piper is from Oregon, this qualifies for summer training for her.
