Hat's off to shock-em-and-awe-em coach Ewing. His activeness and shot-blocking passion reminds me of a young Ewing.

I cannot understand why Sodom hasn't played more minutes. He is a rim protector. Playing these less fortunate teams would give Sodom more experience and confidence. Sodom agreed with me. I do respect coaches decision, but imo he should play a lot more. #FreeSodom hahahaha... I know this isn't much, but it's something >>> www.guhoyas.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/chris_sodom_1051753.html Sodom grabs rebounds on both ends of the court. He has a nice shooting touch from the free throw line. The "key" thing for guards to do is to throw the ball UP and let Sodom go and get the ball. He will. He doesn't bring the ball down into the defense and smaller guards. This is good. Some bigs have a habit of bringing the ball back down into the defense/smaller players. He doesn't. He will get fouled and get to the free throw line. Sodom will make most of his free throws as well. PUT HIM IN THE MIX babbbbbyyy. imo

He liked the tweet. Sodom also retweeted it but recently untweeted it. I agree Glide. I don't know why Sodom hasn't played at least 10mins in every game but Richmond. None of the others were in question after halftime.....smh

None of the others were in question after halftime.....smh I also agree...but I can also see the value of playing the kids that will get the bulk of the minutes during the season. Not because the level of competition will challenge them, but because they’re under a new coach and a new system. They need to get used to playing Coach Ewing’s way and learn what is expected of them. Better for them to unlearn old habits and make adjustments now. And it’s also a chance for Coach to watch them and see their strengths and weaknesses. May also be about sending a message to other teams and to recruits about who we are and how we will play. Kind of hard to do that with a kid that has barely played any organized ball—he’s just got too much to learn about the game generally. Anyway, that’s my guess as to why we haven’t seen more of Sodom and others. Now that we are a few games in, maybe (hopefully) we will see more.

Sodom is way behind. If Mourning wasn't hurt I could see a situation where he could have benefited from redshirting a yr...

Jessie and Marcus just won't cut it under the basket. Play and coach Sodom as the game goes on. He's a fast learner. Throw him in the fire LOL.. imo...

7'3 I don't care if you couldn't hardly walk you're playing period. LOL... I'm not wasting anyone's time. Show your guys you believe in them. Every last one of them.

Sorry but Sodom is behind. The college game is really fast for him at the moment as it is for most freshmen... His pick and roll defense is atrocious. Not to say he can't get better but he just isn't ready to play in the big east...im sure he and coach Ewing have had conservation about his playing time.
He is a project. It's gonna take time to get him where he needs to be. We knew that when we signed him.

Ewing sees what he is capable of in practice. Kid is very raw. Need patience. We need to recruit over him IMHO.

Given that this is his first time coaching college basketball it's tough for him to give playing time to guys to develop, his major focus should be on figuring out what is going to get us wins.

It's gonna take time to get him where he needs to be. We knew that when we signed him. I like his athleticism for his size and I think he plays with great effort, but the game is just too fast for him right now and he fouls way too often. If he was to get any real minutes against a decent team, they would instantly put him in a pick and roll situation and abuse him for easy baskets. I am sure they are working hard with him in practice on his mobility and how he reacts to different situations and hopefully he shows good progress all year and becomes a guy who can give them 5 -10 minutes as the year wears on, but right now he is not ready. I would say that if the Hoyas start playing a little bit of zone defense he might be a better fit in that scheme, where his size would help defending the paint and he would not have to defend players on the perimeter. It doesn't look like Coach Ewing is a big fan of zone defense, at least not yet. I would think it might be a good option as the season wears on, even if he used it simply to protect a few of his players if they got in foul trouble.

Good coaches (not saying Coach Ewing isn't a good coach, I think he is)also know some players are game players, some are not good practice players. Sodom is 7'3" put him out there to learn, guide him as the game goes along. He's intimidating just being out there. I've done this before coaching. I love it, it works. My players got better right in games. It was unbelievable. It's something I tried, but didn't know it would work and it did. I do know you can't rush talent. But this is a different beast. Again, he's 7'3". Roy Hibbert couldn't even run the court when he arrived on the Hilltop. I would say of course we need another big man. Maybe more of a solid player, but I watched this kid all summer and saw more good things than bad. Guards have to know how to get him the ball. Throw it high. This is why we need true point guards that know the game. When and where Sodom likes the ball. It is you point guards job to make Sodom better. Kid has great hands, soft touch around the basket. Will put it on your head and block shots. Look at the little average he has only playing 4 games. Kid has 4 blocks. If he had more time he'd probably be one of the blocking leaders in college basketball. Jessie is 9th in rebounding. Sodom rebounds on both ends of the court!

To give up on him after five games- or even two seasons- would be absurd. Give him time- he will contribute.
